Job SummaryQuality & Patient Safety Improvement RN, Quality Management Department

The Quality & Patient Safety Improvement RN supports implementation of hospital performance improvement initiatives. He/she assists with organization’s quality & patient safety data abstraction, collection and reporting programs including customer feedback via complaints, grievances, and Press Ganey feedback. The Quality & Patient Safety Improvement RN works with the Quality & Patient Safety Department in consultation with hospital leadership to move the Quality & Patient Safety programs forward across the organization with respect to quality, safety, experience & value including continuous readiness for regulatory accreditations and certifications.

 

 

Essential Functions


  • Assists with organization, preparation and implementation of performance improvement initiatives in line with hospital needs and priorities


  • Communicates and promotes understanding of Joint Commission, National Patient Safety Goals and Leapfrog Group Safety Initiatives to hospital department representatives and utilizes data collection and analysis to monitor compliance

  • Participates in Joint Commission and CSRE documentation preparation, standards interpretation, surveys and response

  • Participates with CDI, Coding and Quality to improve quality of care and documentation of care

  • Ability to organize, track, monitor and drive to timely completion the patient complaint and grievance process

  • Reporting of patient satisfaction (Press Ganey) survey comments and data reports

  • Assists with orientation of new staff and physicians with respect to Joint Commission, CMS Core Measures, HCAHPS, and other quality initiatives

  • Works as clinical consultant within the Quality & Patient Safety team to maintain validity of quality presentations and reports submitted by the Quality & Patient Safety department

  • Participates in monthly quality rounding with Infection Prevention and other Department Leaders to maintain continuous readiness and report results to Patient Care and Safety

  • Performs focused chart reviews to identify unexpected mortality, complications, provide comparative data through various software programs, peer review cases

  • Facilitates identification, reporting, and investigation of Serious Preventable Adverse Events and Hospital Acquired Conditions and Hospital Acquired Infections

  • Support and assist with Patient Satisfaction, Service Excellence, and other corporate priority initiatives

  • Promotes internal and external customer satisfaction

  • Builds and promotes a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement


Qualifications


Experience:


  • Minimum of 3 years of hospital related experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of Performance Improvement Tools and data abstraction, analysis and reporting

  • Proficiency with Joint Commission/CMS quality measure definitions preferred

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook with ability to become proficient and independent with facility data collection software
