Position Summary:

Responsibility within the organization for mechanical design, application expertise, and delivering value positioned products on current platforms and through new product development. Position can apply to NPD Execution, Sustaining and Application Engineering and Mechanical. Design/improve existing products and strong contribution to the development of new products.

Major Responsibilities:


  • Designs and/or improves routine components and products with guidance on manufacturability, quality and cost with a strong understanding of design tools and methods.
  • Collaborates across the organization with parts, design reviews, and practices to hit cost targets.
  • Analyzes and designs new routine products and improves existing products.
  • Designs and/or improves routine components and products with guidance on manufacturability, quality and cost with a strong understanding of electronics design tools and methods.
  • Optimizes components and products with guidance on manufacturability, quality and cost with a strong understanding of electronics analysis methods.
  • Solves problems with a solid understanding of problem solving process and ability to apply to routine design problems.
  • Assists in capturing voice of customer and development of product specifications. Translates customer needs into design and for to manufacturing requirements/capability.
  • Creates test plans and develops new test protocol for products or components, with a basic understanding of reliability and failure mechanisms.
  • Participates in documentation and creation of CTQ's for elemental and system function.
  • Applies understanding of markets to develop forward thinking solutions.

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent related experience.
  • 3 years relevant experience.
  • Experience with product development and design for manufacturability.
  • Good knowledge of physics, electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Experience in providing customer support and dealing with challenging customer issues.
  • Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating working relationships with all levels of personnel within and outside the organization.
  • Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma within 3 years; Design for Lean Six Sigma or Black Belt preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Expert level experience with Ansys Software or equivalent
  • Expert level experience with Solid Works Software or equivalent
  • Experience with 80/20 methodology
