ODNR owns and manages state parks, state forests, state nature preserves and wildlife areas. We license all hunting, fishing and watercraft; oversee and permit all mineral extraction, monitor dam safety, manage water resources and serve as the second largest Law Enforcement presence in the State of Ohio.

We are accepting applications for a Geology Program Supervisor within the Division of Geological Survey, headquartered at Franklin Square (Central Office), assigned to Franklin county. What you will do...


  • Oversees division programs (e.g., the Great Lakes Geologic Mapping Coalition Program, the STATEMAP Mapping Program)

  • Prepares & oversees fiscal budgets of division & makes recommendations

  • Uses detailed knowledge of Paleozoic bedrock geology, Quaternary geology, geomorphology, coal geology, sedimentology, stratigraphy & geologic mapping to conduct &/or direct bedrock & surficial geology mapping

  • Prepares & edits technical maps & reports, grant applications & administrative reports

  • Assists in overseeing trends & research related to industrial minerals (e.g. coal/aggregate usage, industrial mineral markets, & areas for future growth &  opportunity in the mineral markets)

  • Advises private citizens, industries & governmental agencies concerning bedrock geology, surficial geology & associated mineral resources

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  May require travel or overnight travel; may be exposed to unpleasant weather conditions &/or dangerous machinery. 

Completion of graduate core program in geology, hydrogeology or other specialized geologic science; 36 mos. exp. in geologic field, laboratory &/or drafting methods; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in employee training & development; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in budgeting.


-Or completion of undergraduate core program in geology, hydrogeology or other specialized geologic science; 60 mos. exp. in geologic field, laboratory &/or drafting methods; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp in employee training & development; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in budgeting.


-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
