We have an immediate opening for an entry level professional in our Pricing Department. This individual will design, initiate, validate and implement statistical analyses by compiling and manipulating data for our Commercial Auto insurance product.

Job Duties Include:

- Designs and/or initiates analyses, compiles data and computes statistics for use in statistical rating studies. Compilations may require downloading and manipulating data from mainframe databases. Applies advanced levels of knowledge of mathematics, statistics, principles of finance and business to casualty insurance problems. Develops methods for tracking rate history, experience, statistical information, etc. from company data and other industry sources to study rate level in states and nationwide as initiated by the individual or by management.

- Initiates analyses and proposes changes in rate levels and rating structures based on statistical analyses, company experience, competition, market conditions, legal climate and underwriting practices to management. Revises company rate manual pages according to decisions of management.

- Recommends appropriate cost components for use in statistical studies such as loss development factors, trend factors, increased limit factors, expense loads, etc.

- May compile exhibits, explanations, justifications and statistical analysis for the submission of company rate filings, state filing forms and manual pages to the Insurance Departments for admitted company filings. Assists in answering inquiries from Insurance Departments regarding submission, such as actuarial justification of filed rates, etc.

- Programs pricing analysis to be added to computerized core system and revises programs as directed by supervisor.

- Researches, interprets and communicates state law requirements affecting coverages such as uninsured motorists laws, no-fault laws, construction defect laws, etc. Researches and recommends whether ISO forms should be attached to specific classes on an optional or mandatory basis. Submits issues to manager and/or the Industry and Regulatory Relations personnel for review.

- Issues written instructions on rate changes to agents and home office personnel. Interprets rating procedures and answers inquiries concerning the company rate structures for agents and home office personnel.

- Performs other duties as directed or as situation dictates, such as coordination with regulators on Insurance Department examinations on admitted company filings, special actuarial projects, new product development studies, etc.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor degree in mathematics, physics, chemistry, or other quantitative related fields

- SQL; Microsoft Office Word and Excel

- Excellent oral and written communication

- Proofreading

- Computer proficiency

- Organize and analyze data
