POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Management Coordinator, under the direction of the Vice President of Quality/Risk, is responsible for providing organizational assistance and guidance with performance improvement, regulatory compliance, and survey readiness functions at MountainView Hospital. The Coordinator shall develop and maintain standards in conjunction with the medical staff and Administration, and shall facilitate support services to the medical staff peer review process. The Coordinator shall provide consultation relative to the development of generic and department-specific screens which shall meet Joint Commission, CMS and regulatory requirements. The Coordinator will be involved in hospital-wide performance improvement projects.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Assists in oversight of a comprehensive quality/performance improvement program inclusive of the analysis and trending of data related to initiatives, using a variety of performance improvement tools.

  • Provides direction necessary to ensure that clinical services are provided in accordance with standards established through state and federal regulations and TJC accreditation standards, including the National Patient Safety Goals which are evidence-based.

  • Assesses compliance with accreditation standards and regulations related to areas of responsibility in collaboration with leadership and staff. Identifies areas of vulnerability and directs the development of strategies to enhance compliance.

  • Effectively manages and coordinates clinical and quality initiatives to ensure that quality objectives are met.

  • Assists in leading the facility to accreditation compliance and regulatory alignment, improvement on national and state/local publicly-reported measures, focused clinical reporting, and compliance with HCA supported national programs.

  • Completes data review, abstraction, extraction, and analysis within established time frames and deadlines as directed. Improve quality results by studying, evaluating, and redesigning processes; implementing changes.

  • Utilizes process redesign, teaching, project management, performance measurement, and data analysis skills to develop and educate the organization. 

  • Participates in, and enforces hospital life-safety, quality, and risk management policies, procedures, and standards of regulatory agencies.

  • Participates in, and acts as a resource for ED staff on all Code White and Code STEMI activations.

  • Provides education to department staff. Strong communication presentation skills. 

  • Assists in investigations, documentation, and resolution of complaints or incidents concerning patients, visitors, physicians and staff. Utilizes ADIET communication tool when communicating with patients/patient families.

  • Provides collaborative input into the development of processes, policies and procedures governing hospital operations to improve the overall organization effectiveness.

  • Handles multiple projects, meet deadlines, assist in managing operations and handles the demands of a stressful environment with a positive attitude.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:


  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing

  • If no Bachelor’s degree, enrolled in BSN program or related degree required within one year of promotion or hire.

  • MSN or healthcare related Master’s degree preferred

Experience:


  • Recent Cardiac RN experience in an acute care facility required

  • Minimum of three (3) years recent experience in medical staff peer review/quality management

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets, reports, and analysis

License/Certification:


  • Registered Nurse licensed in state of Nevada required

Special Skills:


  • Must have strong communications skills both written and verbal, computer skills and knowledge of Interqual criteria

  • Proven ability to review, analyze and interpret data

  • Understanding and ability to teach nursing theory

  • Basic computer and hospital informatics skills
