Position Summary
As a Cellar Supervisor at our Mission Bell Winery, you will be responsible for prioritizing, facilitating, and coordinating all Cellar related activity. You will directly manage and engage the team on your perspective shift to ensure operating procedures are followed and production goals are met. You will have a direct impact on all products we produce and play a vital role driving the business forward!
Essential Job Functions
Directly supervise Cellar personnel and administrative functions ensuring that scheduling, staffing, attendance, reporting, procedure adherence, consistency and quality of work performed are in accordance with company expectations.
Implements and ensures compliance with company mandated programs and procedures inclusive of, but not limited to, safety programs, advancement plans, operating procedures manual and training program, inventory tracking and control, equipment and asset inspection logs, accident/Incident reports, and basic budget compliance.
Document, record and or maintain adequate levels of supply inventories.
Analyze daily shift and department shift reports, identify/address process gaps, track and or provide daily, weekly, and or monthly shift metrics.
Work with the team to create written procedures for all cellar tasks.
Supervise the workforce through vision and values while providing training and developing the work force with consistency in message and purpose.
Build strategic working relationships with peers in achieving and maintaining the accuracy and consistent flow of information, execution of procedures, and performance of the overall operations.
Develops, interprets, and ensures the consistent application of organization policies.
Supports and communicates with all departments influenced by cellar operations, including, but not limited to, winemaking, safety, bottling, administration, lab, maintenance, distribution, human resources and corporate.
Supervise and maintain as assigned, winery compliance with government agencies local, state, and federal which include environmental, air quality, fish and game, OSHA, Safety and Health.
Provide supervisory direction to establish and maintain procedures and guidelines for ISO and/or Food Safety standards.
Actively support and promote site Safety Programs.
Support, promote, and recommend enhancements to existing safety and health processes that will provide for a safe and healthful working environment.
Model safe working behavior for all employees.
Conduct safety inspections of work areas as needed or scheduled.
Conduct or train staff to conduct weekly safety meetings.
Enforce safe behavior by conducting corrective discipline for safety violations.
Conduct job and department specific safety training to new-hires and refresher training.
Conduct Incident Investigations for root cause factors and take appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED required or equivalent experience
Minimum of three years advanced experience in all phases of cellar operations
Minimum of three years of experience in a leadership position
Comfortable in a bargaining unit environment
Good English written and verbal communication skills
In depth knowledge and understand of all cellar operations
Demonstrated ability to coordinate and document workflow
Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, E-mail and database applications.
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Good supervisory, teamwork and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year management/supervisory experience
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) communication skills.
Knowledge of safety regulations.
Ability to allocate personnel and equipment resources to ensure that production tasks are performed in a timely, efficient and safe manner
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Work Environment:
Works outdoors/indoors
Works in warm/cold climates
Works in high places
Works on wet surfaces
Is exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals
Works near moving, mechanical parts and lift truck traffic
Must be able to move up to 55 lbs
Irregular shifts, including graveyard, and long hours may be required, particularly during harvest.
Primary office environment may be warehouse/cellar setting
Travel Required: 10 – 15%
Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and work on a computer for extended periods. Lifting may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
