Postdoctoral Fellowship, Genome Biology Division at New England Biolabs, Inc. in Ipswich, Massachusetts

Job Description:

New England Biolabs is hiring for a Postdoctoral Fellowship focused on the studies of the relationship between chromatin packaging and transcriptional regulation in human cells during diseased conditions compared to normal using a variety of bioinformatics tools. We will correlate open chromatin structures and associated epigenetic marks during cell cycle, mammalian development and cancer using spike-in controls jointly developed by NEB and Epicypher.

 

Primary Responsibilities:


  • To conceptualize and conduct experiments in support of research projects, ensuring consistency with established methodological approaches, adherence to project timelines.


  • Understanding of related literature and research to support the design and implementation of experiments and development of reports that could be presented in informal or formal setting, including departmental and research seminars. 


  • Write and publish articles in quality peer-reviewed (preferably open access) journals ensuring consistency with the highest standards of academic publication and showcasing NEB’s scientific leadership.


  • Participate and manage collaborative research within NEB and with external laboratories by exchanging ideas and implementing collaborative experiments.


Required Qualifications and Experience:


  • A recent PhD in Molecular biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics or Genomics: a high level understanding of Bioinformatics is a key requirement. 


  • Must demonstrate proficiency in large volume data analysis/management from various outputs.


  • Experience in mammalian cell culture, NGS library preparation for DNA and RNA (analysis) is required. 


  • Familiarity with open-source DNA-seq, Bisulfite-seq, ChIP-seq and RNA-seq analysis pipelines and public databases (TCGA, UCSC genome, Ensembl and etc).


  • Fluent with at least one coding or scripting language (Java/Python/Perl/R) and be comfortable with working in a Unix environment. 


  • Knowledge of basic statistics is a plus.


  • Docking and structural studies for enzyme and substrates.
