Position Overview:

The Safety Project Coordinator II supports the overall safety effort in the design and enforcement of safety policies and programs.


  • Assists in the design of site-specific safety programs.

  • Conducts random safety audits and reviews results using statistical evaluation, audit reports and feedback.

  • Interfaces with on-site subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Establishes relationships with clients' safety staff.

  • Conducts site safety orientations.

  • Coordinates site specific substance abuse testing, if applicable.

  • Routinely audits on-site safety compliance.

  • Conducts documented inspections of tools and equipment as required.

  • Ensures the safe, effective and efficient operation of the department/work unit.

  • Participates in investigations/interviews after an incident.

  • Effectively trains, coaches, disciplines and develops employees to achieve and maintain positive working relationships within the department.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

  • Helps to write and distribute incident investigations.

  • Understands reporting protocols after an incident.

  • Develops relationship with Risk Management Department.

  • May be required to transport injured employees to a medical provider.

  • May be required to interact with medical providers initially on occupational illnesses and injuries.

  • Attend pre-task meetings to deliver safety expectations.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will possess a degree in Health & Safety, Engineering, Construction Management or related field and 3 to 10 years experience in Health & Safety; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
