The Washington Post is looking for a reporter to co-author Power Up , our must-read morning newsletter that takes readers inside Washington's power centers. This newsletter provides a smart, concise look at the major news critical to Washington leaders as they begin their workdays.

The primary responsibility of this reporter will be working with co-anchor Jacqueline Alemany to identify, report and aggregate the key story lines animating the political world. The ideal candidate will be attuned to the newsy tidbits that are important to Washington readers. We are also looking for someone with a distinctive voice. The reporter should aim to break news and be able to write in an accessible way for both political insiders and a broader audience of those interested in politics.

Experience covering Washington is not required, but candidates must understand how Washington works and nurture a sixth sense about the reading habits of those in the nation's capital. Early-morning work is part of the job.

This position is based in our Washington newsroom. Once we resume normal operations, it will not be eligible for remote work.
