The Washington Post's FP&A department is seeking a Financial Analyst with experience in financial planning, modeling, and analysis. This role requires good technical Excel skills, but also a sense of creativity and curiosity in the constantly evolving operations of a print and digital media business.

The ideal candidate is expected to be relatively self-sufficient within a close-knit team environment, inquisitive, quick to synthesize data into information, and capable of tackling multiple priorities. The expectation is to become a trusted FP&A partner to key stakeholders. That trust is earned through solid technical analytical work and consistent performance. This person is expected to espouse this approach and mindset in becoming a subject matter expert in specific coverage areas within the business, with a special focus on revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist in the preparation of annual operating plan, quarterly forecast and long-range plan

  • Serve as key FP&A liaison to relevant business stakeholders to optimize operational agility

  • Provide regular ad hoc financial analysis to finance leaders, cross-functional teams and executives to support business strategy

  • Assist with monthly accounting close with timely analysis and review

Requirements:


  • 1-3 years of financial planning, modeling, and analysis experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or related field

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and relational database applications

  • Knowledge of financial planning systems (Oracle or SAP) and GAAP accounting

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proven presentation and project management skills

  • The ability to work effectively and independently with all levels of management
