As a global systemically important financial institution, State Street has substantial regulatory obligations in its home jurisdiction and multiple jurisdictions in which it conducts significant operations.   The international regulatory legal team includes legal colleagues in the U.S., Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions. This position provides legal counsel support to the regulatory legal team with a focus on compliance, including anti-money laundering (especially Know Your Customer / Bank Secrecy Act), sanctions, and anti-boycott requirements. This position may also provide legal counsel on subjects such as anti-fraud, anti-corruption, and other bank regulatory matters as needed.

What you will be responsible for

As Counsel, Assistant Vice President, you will:


  • Provide legal advice to business, compliance, and legal colleagues to support State Street’s compliance program;

  • Collaborate with business, compliance, and legal colleagues to draft, review, and negotiate contract language related to anti-money laundering and sanctions;

  • Provide practical advice on policies, procedures, systems, and training; and

  • Provide legal advice in support of State Street’s business model, including new products, services, partnerships, and offices.

Education & Preferred Qualifications


  • Juris doctorate from an accredited university

  • License to practice in Massachusetts or another state of the United States

  • Three (3) years or more of experience in the financial services and/or corporate department of a major law firm or equivalent experience in the financial services sector
