We are currently looking for a Child Care Teacher for our program, Sarah's House. The Child Care Teacher would be responsible for providing nurturing/developmentally appropriate learning lessons and environment for all children at Sarah’s House Child Care Center. Monitors all children to ensure they are safe and properly cared for according the the MSDE Licensing Regulations. Establishing positive and productive relationships with families, volunteers & community while engaging them in the children’s learning.


SCHEDULE:



  • Monday - Friday: 7am - 6pm

**The hours for this position can vary depending on the day and coverage needs. Applicant must be able to work as early as 7am and as late as 6pm. This is a 40 hr per week position.**


Child Care Teacher Responsibilities:



  • Maintain a safe, healthy and stimulating environment, in the child care classroom, center and outdoors. Maintain an orderly and attractive arrangement of the classroom learning environment. (not limited to cleaning, sanitizing, organizing etc.)

  • Plan and implement lessons and activities that will provide experience for each individual child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

  • Set clear and consistent limits for children and communicate guidelines positively while allowing children to make choices.

  • Responsible for conducting classroom orientations for new child enrollmen, children transitioning to the next classroom level and / or exiting from the program.

  • Maintain daily classroom records, assessments, observations and reports.

  • Involve families in the program by planning and implementing family activities. Plan and participate in parent conferences. 

  • Adhere to written policies and regulations established by Sarah's House, Catholic Charities and State licensing. Participate in workshops and training opportunities.


  • Must be capable of moving between buildings, going up and down stairs and getting on the floor with children. Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds.




  • Should have experience working with low income and/or homeless population.



Child Care Teacher Requirements:



  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Must have graduated from high school or have obtained an approved certificate of high school equivalency.

  • Shows dependability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

  • Excellent communication skills including active listening.

  • Excellent organizational, instructional, proactive skills and attention to detail.

  • Basic understanding of systems such as managing Outlook calendar, email, Microsoft Office and share drives.

  • Ability to work with all children and individuals experiencing homelessness with a trauma informed care approach and minimal direction or supervision.

  • Thorough understanding of Maryland State Department of Education Guidelines, Maryland Excels and Office of Child Care Licensing Regulations.

  • Must have completed 90 clock hours or equivalent of approved early childhood curriculum and development coursework and at least 9 clock hours of approved training in communicating with staff, parents and the public, approved training in supporting breastfeeding and 3 clock hours in ADA Compliance or degree in early childhood education or CDA credential is desirable.

  • One year of experience as Child Care Teacher or Senior Teacher or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must be certified in CPR and First Aid
