POSITION SUMMARY:


This position is a leader, mentor and trainer in the organization, with overall center/partner accountability for assigned book of business. This position oversees, develops, and sets expectations for an Operations team.   The Sr. Division Vice President drives overall financial, clinical and operational results of center/partnership activities. Position acts as liaison to all other corporate departments and divisions as the steward for our Centers/Partners. Position is also responsible for driving division and corporate strategic initiatives to successful execution.  Responsible for $200M + in revenue. 


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


 Strategic Planning



  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to Partnership

  • Oversee and identify strategic goals for the Partnership

  • Drive growth – short and long term

  • Identify and introduce appropriate new initiatives (ex: anesthesia services)

  • Capitalize on opportunities when appropriate

  • Support acquisition due diligence efforts for new center opportunities

  • Participate in Corporate initiatives as representatives of Operations. Involve appropriate Operation teammates to communicate initiative and get feedback


 Partnership Relationship and Center Management



  • Coach and guide RVPs in building successful relationships between AMSURG, Physicians and JV Partners, as applicable

  • Personally build successful relationships between AMSURG and Physicians in assigned centers as well ensuring assigned RVPs build successful relationships between AMSURG and physicians

  • Personally build successful relationship between AMSURG and JV partners, as applicable

  • Address physician, Center Administrator and staff issues quickly and effectively Mentor and lead Center Administrator and RVPs


Communication                                                                    



  • Function as the AMSURG point of contact for JV Partnership, as applicable

  • Function as the AMSURG point of contact for assigned centers and ensure RVPs function as AMSURG point of contact for their assigned centers

  • Communicate to assigned direct reports to ensure knowledge transfer, understanding and consistent adoption of information to Operation teammates

  • Sell and influence adoption of new strategic initiatives

  • Provide AMSURG advocacy updates to Partners

  • Engage AMSURG resources, while maintaining ownership of the situation

  • Communicate regularly with Center Administrator via 1:1 meetings and other methods


Financial Management



  • Manage financial performance of assigned centers and JV partnerships – meet earnings against budget

  • Develop center level budget for assigned centers and oversee development of center level budget

  • Answer financial questions for Partners re: taxes, MORs, etc. for assigned centers

  • Oversee capital purchasing and develop pro formas for new equipment for assigned centers

  • Lead team on cost savings opportunities for assigned centers

  • Analyze finances and expenses to manage to budget and control costs for assigned centers and partnerships


 Board Meeting Management



  • Lead and facilitate Partnership Planning/Board Meetings as Board Chair for assigned centers and JV partnerships

  • Lead meeting agenda creation and solicits input from Physician partners for assigned centers and JV partnerships

  • Lead remote Board Meetings when possible for assigned centers and JV partnerships

  • Capture board meeting minutes for assigned centers and JV partnerships


 Crisis Management



  • Provide leadership in crisis situations to less senior Operation Leads

  • Assess crisis situations, at times remotely, and leverage AMSURG resources in resolution

  • Develop and communicate plan of action

  • Debriefs with all involved parties upon resolution to determine root cause

  • Implement plans to mitigate root causes in future using AMSURG resources


 HR Issues Management



  • Keep leadership aware of potential issues and seek assistance to diffuse issues

  • Provide RVPs with assistance in diffusing issues when necessary

  • Mitigate legal issues and manage the following HR programs for corporate direct reports and assigned Centers

    • Performance evaluation

    • Goal setting



  • Performance management


 Corporate Resource Management



  • Plan, organize and coordinate activities of AMSURG Resources

  • Develop and mentor staff – provide guidance and training recommendations

  • Articulate corporate initiatives and develop plans to support them

  • Broker all appropriate Corporate resources when needed – know when, how and why to engage them

  • Act as AMSURG expert related to available Corporate resources and when to use them

  • Maintain ownership of situations when Corporate resources are engaged to ensure satisfactory resolution

  • Plan, organize and communicate with leadership, AMSURG resources, and Center staff

  • Coordinate and schedule work related travel effectively and efficiently

  • Regular and reliable attendance required

  • Other duties as assigned


Corporate Leadership



  • Participate in developing corporate strategies and objectives Assist in achieving overall corporate objectives

  • Participate in corporate committees and leadership meetings as requested

  • Participate in MFR and MOR reviews


Regulatory Compliance/Risk Management



  • Responsible for oversight of the following areas with assistance of AMSURG resources

    • Quality oversight

    • Risk Management

    • Regulatory compliance



  • Take the lead on reporting regulatory issues, ASC industry updates, lobbying efforts to the Operating Board


Partnership Agreement Management



  • Drive all agreements to execution including

    • Legal agreements

    • Ancillary agreements

    • HR/Management agreements

    • Employee leasing agreements

    • Leases




KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Education/Experience:


Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a senior management role within the healthcare services industry required. Knowledge of Ambulatory Surgery Center operations required.


Mathematical Skills:


Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and percentages. Follow fiscal guidelines, regulations, principles, and standards when committing fiscal resources or processing financial transactions.


Language Skills:


Ability to understand, read, write and speak English. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to successfully write business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions and professionally interact with managers, employees, clients, vendors and the general public.


Reasoning Ability:


Ability to recognize and define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and correct errors.  Ability to understand and interpret basic financial data. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in a variety of forms and deal with abstract and concrete variables. Partners with clients to identify and resolve complex or sensitive issues.
