The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Fabrication Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Performing metal shop fabrication and welding, including daily work with drawings, print packages, computers, and other tools and equipment as required.


• Modifying and installing facility and production equipment including rigging & moving of plant equipment.


• Troubleshooting and solving mechanical equipment problems.


• Providing Mechanical Craft team support to internal customers.


• Working with other Plant Engineering area shops to maintain the reliability of the plant and production equipment.


• Possess good customer relations and effective communication skills (incl; basic use of a PC).

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

• Possess a High School Diploma / GED & Minimum one (1) year Technical Degree / Diploma (Must supply school transcript with GPA or military transcript showing completion of a Technical Degree, or Diploma in a Mechanical Field).


• Possess minimum six (6) months of experience in fabrication with metal and shop equipment, which may include an internship or apprentice experience: “in a private, public, government, or military environment”


• Willing to work a flexible schedule & Overtime (incl; weekends and holidays) as needed.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Meet acceptable hiring scores in Skills Assessments for Mechanical fields & Fabrication.  Interpersonal Skills, working with people on all levels.


• Multiple trade or Technical Degrees


• Excellent personal safety record and multiple safety related activities


• Welding certifications

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic.

Relocation: Is not authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
