Position Overview - Dispatch

This is a skilled position with a primary responsibility to manage customer requests, ready mix driver schedules, call in times and payroll.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


  • Control the number of drivers needed throughout the day and make any necessary adjustments that will maintain the goals set by the company.

  • Have a pleasant and accommodating voice over the phone and always demonstrate a positive attitude.

  • Develop a positive rapport with Drivers and company supervisors.

  • Demonstrate familiarity with delivery areas and must be able to assist drivers in finding jobsites.

  • Must be able to determine travel time to jobs and best plant location to service jobs.

  • Able and willing to work overtime and varying shifts including early mornings, late afternoons, and Saturdays.

Education/Experience


  • High school diploma or General Education Degree GED is preferred.

 Work Requirements


  • Prior related experience in the industry is a plus.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements


  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software (Command Alkon); Internet software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

  • Customer service skills are essential.

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. 

  • Ability to write clearly and effectively.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Position Overview - Batchperson

The Batch Person is responsible for controlling production and load out of materials produced in the batch plant, as well as for scheduling and ensuring timely delivery of supplies to the plant to perform duties in conjunction with dispatch loading instructions.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


  • Batches concrete load according to specifications.  Reads dispatch orders and understands required needs for production of materials. 

  • Conduct batching operations in an efficient and safe manner while complying with all local, state and federal regulations.

  • Conduct batching functions in a professional manner and ensure compliance with job specifications and all applicable environmental and air quality regulations.

  • Prints out invoice tickets on each truck/load and files.  Gives copy of invoice to truck drivers to obtain customer payment upon delivery of materials as needed.

  • Responsible for efficient working condition of plant equipment.  Performs maintenance to batch plant which includes greasing parts, sweeping, shoveling, performing equipment repairs, cleaning, removing jam-ups, and welding.

  • Become proficient in all batching, dispatching & Quality Control Software.

  • Maintain time and material records.

  • Ability to understand appropriate uses of various mix designs.

  • Responsible for efficient working condition of plant equipment.

  • Must be able to climb man ladder.

  • Follow verbal and written instruction.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Subject to drug testing, medical exams, and physical agilities testing.

  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Windows.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations


  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.

  • Ability and willingness to pass ACI Level One (1) certification within six months.
