Purpose

 

Newmont seeks a welder who will be responsible for safe and reliable completion of necessary fabrication and repairs to heavy mining equipment. No mining experience no problem we will train the right individual.


Essential Duties

 


  • Lead by example, in all Newmont’s safety processes, ensuring safe practices are utilized while performing work.

  • Safe and efficient mechanical and welding repair of heavy equipment used in mining.

  • Fabricate and repair on machinery, frames, buckets, etc.  

  • Have the ability to solve and correct recurring structural failures and wear related problems.

  • Be able to layout complex repairs to ensure quality repairs.

  • Make all repairs and changes with design for reliability in mind.

  • Assist supervisor in ordering materials, giving accurate time frames for repair, and planning welding maintenance.

  • Ability to communicate well to supervisors and other technicians to ensure accurate information is passed on.

  • Assist with mechanical repairs, area clean up and improvements as requested by supervisor.

Training & Experience

 


  • Candidates are preferred to have a minimum of 2-5 years of on-the-job mechanic/welding experience in mining or related industry, or with heavy equipment.

  • Successful candidates must be able to show a good safety record and work history.

  • Welder candidates must be familiar with the various materials and techniques used in surface mining welding maintenance and may be required to successfully complete a welding test to be given at the mine site.

Working Conditions

 


  • Must be willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts.

  • Willing to work indoors and outdoors as required by each job task.

  • Willing to assist mechanics, electricians, operators, etc. with daily tasks with the proper training and supervision to complete safely and accurately.

This position has multiple levels (which may range from level 1 up to level 6). The hourly rate offered for this overtime-eligible role will depend on the level, and the range of the hourly rate is $32.25 (Tech 3) - 38.93 (Tech 6). The hourly rate is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado.  The specific level and hourly rate that is offered to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The hourly rate offer will not be based on a candidate’s wage rate history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about wage rate history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
