Job Description:


Develops and implements a marketing plan for a major organizational unit within a college or division. May provide technical assistance to external clients.


  • Develops and implements a marketing plan for a major organizational unit, to include market research, communications, sales development and special events programs. May focus marketing activities upon potential clients, sponsors, alliance (non-profit contractors) and public and private decision makers.
  • Coordinates activities with communications, training and related personnel within the organization and outside vendors.
  • May assist in the preparation of technical and commercial presentations to industry and community groups and associations. May make presentations promoting the organization to such groups.
  • Identifies and develops input for websites, newsletters, social media, testimonial and case studies.
  • Communicates with and supports external clients and/or partners where appropriate.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree and 3 years experience.

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

Additional Information:


  • Manage the "Get Involved" brand (Get Involved platform look and feel, social, media, event marketing, blogs, chat spaces, etc.).
  • Develop, direct and evaluate a comprehensive communication and marketing strategy and efforts to enhance the reach of the Get Involved brand.
  • Identifies and develops input for websites, newsletters, social media, testimonials, case studies, pre-event press releases and post-event press releases and summaries.
  • Provide marketing support and guidance for the departments and Fee-Funded Student Organizations within the Student Life area.
  • Develop, in concert with department staff, a 3-5 year marketing and branding strategic plan for each department within Student Life on a three year cycle; coordinate implementation efforts.
  • Manage WOW Campus Prowl, Stress Free Final Programs, and one major multi-department program annually (Dear World, Common Voices, Ask Big Questions, etc.).
  • Lead the efforts for the Get Involved brand and Student Life departments during Orientation Conferences and Cub Camp programs.
  • Direct the "Bucketlist" program to encourage students to "explore UH" through events, activities and programs.
  • Develop and implement internal policies and procedures for best practices to ensure quality marketing, communication and brand alignment is being maintained.
  • Coordinate the marketing and support the program planning at UH Sugarland for the Student life departments.
  • Coordinate training for all Fee-Funded Marketing Directors/Chairs on an annual basis, or as student leaders transition.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
