The Assistant Care Team Supervisor– LPN is responsible for providing support and assistance within the scope of practice in the coordination of duties and supervision of nursing staff as well as providing professional nursing care to patients. Responsible for the overall day to day staff assignments and management of patient flow to ensure excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:


  • Participates in the interview, hire, and training and orientation processes of the nursing staff.
  • Participates in the performance evaluation process with the Care Team Supervisor.
  • Ensures nursing practice of the staff and own practice is in accordance with nursing standards, local, state and federal guidelines and organizational policy.
  • Ensures compliance with all infection control, safety and confidentiality guidelines (OSHA, DOH, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Assigns duties as needed including daily break schedules for team.
  • Investigates variances and patient and/or family complaints.
  • Develops and performs corrective actions to resolve issues or refers more complex issues to Manager.
  • Supports quality improvement activities, including data collection and committee participation.
  • Supports implementation of programs and procedures developed at an organizational level.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for his/her own professional development and participates in medical group training programs, CME/CEU conferences and in-service programs as appropriate.
  • Obtains, verifies and records health history of patients as needed to support patient flow.
  • Convenes daily huddles and supervisors the Medical Assistants to ensure implementation of physician directed preparation of patients for scheduled visits.
  • Ensures staff maintains excellent customer service when caring for patients.
  • Ensures clerical staff checks patients’ insurance eligibility 3 days prior to scheduled visits and on day of visit for visits scheduled within 2 days of appointment.
  • Monitors inventory of medical supplies and orders when necessary.
  • Reports malfunctioning machinery to Administration.
  • Provides feedback to staff on a regular basis.
  • Disseminates and enforces departmental and office/group procedures in conjunction with management.
  • Interfaces with physicians, management and staff members.
  • Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating physician advice and/or instructions.
  • Performs all related nursing duties as assigned by the physician.
  • Provides basic patient care by administering medications.
  • Assists other healthcare professionals in performing exams.
  • Follows established procedures for infection control.
  • Ensures staff coverage is consistent with patient volume.
  • Promotes and facilitates the team approach to patient care through appropriate, timely and professional communication and by leading by example.
  • Organizes patient flow and apprises patients in waiting room when delays occur.
  • Responsible for the supervision of employees who work with ACP and are aware of how to properly deal with this information.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications:


  • Completion of NYS approved Practical Nursing program.
  • Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse License
  • Minimum of two years administrative experience.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent client service and public relations skills.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with patients, medical staff, staff members and the public.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply policies and procedures.
  • Experience in a medical office.
