The Cardiovascular Portfolio Group brings all of our cardiac and vascular businesses together into one cross-functional, collaborative operating unit to employ the full breadth of our talent, technologies, products, services, and solutions to address the needs of customers and patients across the globe. Cardiac Rhythm Management offers devices and therapies to treat abnormal heart rhythms, as well as cardiac diagnostic and monitoring solutions.

We are looking for a talented Sr. Principal Level Software Engineer for our Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) Software division. This engineer will help us drive software delivery as part of an agile development team. The right person will be an application developer with technical leadership skills in Python, Flask, Kafka, Rest APIs (experience with Swagger is a bonus), and NOSQL databases (HBase preferred). Security and TensorFlow expertise would be nice to have.

Day in the Life


  • Lead, Design and develop high integrity software for medical devices
  • Use mastery to define software standards for medical devices across our product portfolio
  • Act as a mentor for other engineers eager to learn skills where you are a subject matter expert (SME)
  • Create an architectural strategy at scale, short and long term for a complex ecosystem
  • Design, build, and test applications, distributed computing, and high-performance computing in Global Cloud Infrastructure as a Service environment
  • Join Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meetings to review product design changes
  • Support design reviews to ensure requirements have been met and risks have been mitigated
  • Work closely with the product owner and scrum master to complete sprint planning, actively participate in scrum ceremonies and deliver results each sprint.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • B.S./B.A.in Computer Engineering/Science or technically related
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience

Specialized Knowledge Required:

  • Hands-on experience with 'Big Data' technologies like Kafka, Elastic, and Hortonworks
  • Programming/testing expertise - Including Python, Flask, or similar language
  • Experience with REST APIs (Swagger is a bonus)

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with NOSQL databases (HBase preferred)
  • Experience with version control systems with Git such as BitBucket or Azure DevOps
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, DataDog, etc.
  • Working knowledge of securing cloud apps- use of AWS security controls (KMS, guard duty, API GW, etc) - may include threat modeling, general vulnerability management within consumed 3rd party components, static code analysis experience, Stretch (previous pen testing experience), use of and familiarity with OpenIDConnect/OAuth2
  • TensorFlow knowledge and experience is a bonus
