Summary:
This role is in the Pilot Operations Manufacturing Engineering team as an Engineer 1 where the primary role is to develop, implement, and sustain hardware for mechanical and electrical systems to be using in Pilot Operations and/or manufacturing. The candidate will be challenged to attain high levels of reliability and repeatability while ensuring high performance and robustness. The goals include meeting all corporate goals and quality commitments goals. This position provides opportunity to develop professionally, work on new projects, and assume increasing levels of responsibility. This is a hands-on role which requires specific skillsets and experience in understanding how to apply hardware engineering concepts for Production use.

Functional Description: Technical Individual Contributors

Develops new or modified process formulations, defines processing or handling equipment requirements and specifications, and reviews processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of products. Involvement may begin at any step from pilot plant to full-scale manufacturing. Coordinates design requirement review with appropriate engineering/scientific personnel to ensure compatibility of processing methods. Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications. May conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts, equipment automation technology, and approaches in the processing or development of new or improved processes.

Work Schedule: Must be able to work the shift(s) listed below and overtime as needed. Hours and shifts are subject to change.


  • 1st Shift: 4:00 AM - 2:30 PM, every other Wednesday and Thursday through Saturday

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Develop, implement, and perform electrical, mechanical, or other related experiments in the lab as well as on the production lines

  • Troubleshoot test fixtures, processes and equipment.

  • Work with other functional teams to improve efficiency and reliability of existing equipment, fixtures, and processes.

  • Work with SMEs to support development of new test, and production methods and process improvements

  • Work with functional SMEs to develop prototypes and perform testing for data collection and analysis.

  • Generate, update, and review URS, SDS, V&V Plans/Reports, EB and other related documents that apply to materials, processes, and systems.

  • Work closely across Ops and R&D functional groups and departments to understand needs and maintain strong collaboration throughout the development process.

  • Implement manufacturing processes by installing and setting up equipment according to specifications and testing to guarantee proper function

  • Assure all manufacturing processes efforts adhere to regulatory and quality requirements

  • This position assumes and performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:


  • Working knowledge of PCB programming tools

  • Basic proficiency of Analog and Digital Electronics

  • Basic knowledge of Software Development using a high-level language

  • Basic knowledge related to product, process, and equipment used in a medical manufacturing environment

  • Ability to work in Team environment across multiple functional groups

  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and conflicting priorities

  • Proficient in computer skills and use of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Excellent team-oriented communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile and its processes

  • Experience with LabVIEW or Matlab (Either user or developer)

  • Experience with Medical device manufacturing

  • Strong Analog and Digital electronics knowledge

Functional/Business Knowledge:

  • Applies basic technical understanding with the knowledge to develop process and design experiments. Possesses theoretical knowledge, but is learning the industry and requirements of applied science. Understands organizational and functional processes and policies.

Scope:

  • Demonstrates potential for technical proficiency. Works on problems of basic scope in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of data factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

Judgement:


  • Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.

  • Normally receives instructions on all work and work output it supervised.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 0-2 years related experience.

Travel Required:

  • Up to 25%

Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
