  • Travel is required with this position. Schedule will be 2 days at the South location and 2 days at the Round Rock location.

Position purpose

The Technician Assistant plays an integral role in the advanced veterinary care provided by Central Texas Veterinary Oncology. This role goes hand and hand with our purpose statement of enhancing the quality of life for our patients.

Responsibilities/Duties: but not limited to


  1. Walking, cleaning, feeding hospitalized patients as needed.

  2. Basic inventory and stocking duties as required.

  3. Kennel duties as required including cage cleaning, laundry and general hospital cleaning.

  4. Assist in the restraint of animals for examinations, procedures and treatments.

  5. Assist technicians with animals.

  6. Assist in administering medical treatments as ordered by doctor or technician.

  7. Computer entry skills.

  8. Take patient vital signs including temperature, pulse and respiration.

  9. Perform nail trims.

  10. Bathe animals.

  11. Perform routine laboratory procedures.

  12. Assist in taking radiographs.

  13. Prepare prescriptions as ordered by the doctor. Using appropriate container and labeling.

  14. Maintain cleanliness in work areas.

  15. Set up for anesthetic procedures and chemotherapy treatments and clean up afterwards.

  16. Client communications (admits/discharges, phone communications)

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.  Some veterinary experience preferred but not required.  Basic customer service skills required. Basic computer skills necessary. Basic phone etiquette.
