Basic Description: Site lead, Hazardous Waste (HW) support at AFRC Installation.
Essential Job Duties:
Ensure compliance with all aspects of the PWS with regards to the HW program IAW Air Force Instruction, local HW Management Plan (HWMP), and federal and state regulations
Ensure Enterprise Environmental Safety and Occupational Health Management Information System (EESOH-MIS) HW database data quality and data integrity.
Provide oversight and serve as backup support, as necessary, for the following HW activities:
Management of waste; HW, non-HW, Industrial, and other regulated waste
Pick-up, delivery and transportation of HW Drums to/from designated sites
Operate a forklift, gasoline powered pump, pressure washer, and flatbed pickup
Conduct both visual and documented inspections of all containers at Waste Facility
Sampling of waste for chemical analysis
Management of CAA & TSDF storage facilities IAW Part B permit and PWS
Coordinate facility transportation and disposal services in coordination with HW PM
HW inventories and audits, including maintenance of required logs, checklists, etc.
Assist base with of RCRA compliance inspections and related activities
Conduct waste characterization
Assist with management of HW recycling activities, tracking, & support
Monitor employee Health & Safety (H&S) in coordination with Cardno SME and Cardno/OTIE H&S Directors and facilitate near-miss and hazard reporting
Identify and mitigate facility and personnel H&S and compliance risks
Review of training (RCRA, DOT, EPA and OSHA) and update of training matrix
Adapt to changes and streamline processes
Assist and participate in personnel reviews and new hire process
Coordinate purchases and receipt of required materials, equipment, and supplies (MSE)
Identify and facilitate waste minimization projects for reducing hazardous waste
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Essential Job Requirements:
Must be able to obtain Department of Defense security clearances
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Access, etc.
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
Must pass a medical fitness exam and respirator fit test
Must be able to lift heavy objects weighing up to 75 lbs. and stand for up to 2 hours at a time
Ability to use a drum dolly to move containerized waste
Ability to don and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Understanding of hazardous materials and SDS (Safety Data Sheets)
Must have or be able to obtain a commercial driver’s license
Forklift experience desirable; must pass forklift operator skills evaluation
Must be self-motivated individual with a positive and professional attitude
Must be customer oriented
5 years’ experience in management and handling of hazardous waste and hazardous materials
Additional Preferred Skills:
Experience with EESOH-MIS Hazardous Waste Module
Knowledge of RCRA, HMR, OSHA, DOT regulations
