Job Summary

Trimble's Forestry Division offers SaaS and enterprise software to improve the productivity and sustainability of the world's most recognized integrated forest product companies, forest managers, conservation organizations, government departments, finished product manufacturers, and the partners that connect the global forest supply chain. The Connected Forest solutions manage the full raw materials lifecycle of planning, planting, growing, harvesting, transporting, and processing.

This position collaborates directly with the division General Manager as well as the department directors and is a key part of the divisional management team. This position establishes economic, financial, and strategic goals for the division. Additionally, the Division Controller provides financial counsel on major business decisions and controls, and safeguards division assets. Finally, this role selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. The position reports to the VP of Finance, Natural Resources, and works directly with the General Manager on a day-to-day basis.

Primary Duties:


  • Be a strong business partner to the divisional management team and trusted advisor to the General Manager


  • Develop financial models and insights to improve the division management team decision processes


  • Manage and support the development of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets and updates forecasts, and is a key member of the strategic planning process.


  • Assist the division's business analytics initiative including developing dashboards as well as specific financial, sales and operations reports


  • Develop and implement division's ERP consolidation strategy in conjunction with streamlining division's legal entity structure


  • Ensure integrity of the division's financial statements


  • Oversee revenue / deferred revenue recognition process ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal Trimble policies and controls (including having a solid understanding of ASC 606)


  • Manage all Canadian statutory filings including filing all appropriate taxes


  • Ensure ongoing divisional compliance with Trimble's controls related to SOX


  • Works closely with corporate finance including consolidations, revenue recognition, tax, and treasury.


  • Lead the division's finance team by providing clear direction, delegating tasks where appropriate, and providing opportunities for the staff to grow and develop


  • Ensure purchasing and hiring are in accordance with Trimble policies and procedures


  • Work closely with key constituents in the direct and channel sales process ensuring business terms that are financially in line with divisional and corporate goals while remaining compliant with revenue recognition policies


  • On an as-needed-basis manage customer, vendor, and partner negotiations to contract completion


Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field


  • CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred


Experience:


  • Minimum 8 years in the accounting and/or finance profession


  • 4+ years of experience in a software business of $50M or greater revenue as either Division Controller, Director of Finance, or small company Finance Director/VP Finance


  • Big Four or regional accounting preferred


Qualifications


  • Experience working in finance for a software-based organization, preferably with multiple international markets


  • Advanced financial modeling including advanced Excel skills


  • Ability to communicate across business functions and divisions


  • Presentation skills at the executive management level


  • Demonstrate performance management experience and ability to focus in the midst of an active environment with changing priorities and deadlines


  • Possess working knowledge of new business systems requirements and implementation methodologies (CRM and ERP)


  • Collaborative work relationships with GM and divisional functional peers


  • Must have strong experience in reporting requirements, consolidations (domestic and international subsidiaries), GAAP, and is well versed in current accounting issues/ trends


  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills


  • Management of teams across borders is a plus
