Assistant Dean for Advancement, Conway School of Nursing

Overview
The Assistant Dean for Advancement for the Conway School serves as the chief advancement officer for the School, responsible for all activities related to identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of annual, major and planned gifts from alumni, friends, and institutions. The position collaborates closely with the central University Advancement team, which provides resources and strategic counsel, and uniform metrics to help drive results within the schools and across the University. The Assistant Dean also leads the collaborative effort in building alumni engagement and communicating the School's mission, vision, and achievements to key donor, alumni, and additional external constituencies. The position reports dually to the Associate Vice President for University Advancement and the Dean of the Conway School. The Assistant Dean provides counsel to the Dean of the School and faculty on advancement matters, sets the philanthropic strategy annually, and helps to organize and set the School's philanthropic priorities in order to maximize external support.

Responsibilities
Leading the advancement effort for the School by developing, implementing and evaluating the annual advancement plan. Ensuring the School exceeds $90 million in funding for the Light the Way campaign by the end of fiscal year 2022. Managing and refining philanthropic priorities annually for the School, ensuring that the highest priorities are achieved. By the close of the campaign, the School should consistently be generating eight figures in fundraising revenue annually.

Collaborating with the Associate VP and at times the Vice President for University Advancement for identified & prospective donors of seven figures and up.
Securing major and principal sources of support to meet funding priorities set by the Dean and in response to supporting key initiatives or strengths of the academic program within the School. Managing a portfolio of relationships with major gift suspects, prospects, and donors. The Assistant Dean will be expected to conduct at least 90 prospect visits annually, soliciting and closing 15-25 major/principal gifts, along with identifying and qualifying the same number of new major/principal gift prospects each year. While yearly gift revenue goals will vary, the Assistant Dean must build upon a program that currently generates eight-figure revenue annually, to achieve the aspiration of a $90MM goal by the end of the campaign.

Building and maintaining volunteer leadership through alumni engagement and external constituencies are key to the School's fundraising success. This includes the recruitment of new members to grow a board of visitors and the pool of flexible revenue the dean can use to pursue opportunities and create new programs.

Hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff when appropriate.

Working with the Dean and the School's Advancement staff to cultivate strong working relationships with faculty of the school who are overseeing priority academic and research areas. Continuously educating and stewarding the faculty to support participation in philanthropic work.

Directing the school efforts in planning, executing and marketing Conway School events and special initiatives aimed at cultivating donors, engaging alumni, and enhancing the visibility and reputation of the school.

Qualifications
Bachelor's and (Master's degrees preferred) with a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible development/advancement experience within a large, highly complex non-profit business environment, with Higher Education experience strongly preferred; demonstrated track record of developing, soliciting, and securing seven and eight-figure gifts; experience managing volunteer leadership groups for philanthropic purposes (board management); experience with capital campaigns, especially soliciting and closing lead gifts, developing solicitation materials, case statements, etc.; and a strong commitment to the Catholic mission of the Busch School and The Catholic University of America.

Skill in using development-related database systems. Possession of current and valid U.S. driver's license appropriate to the type of university vehicle and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR) as stipulated in the Vehicle Guidelines and Procedures Manual administered through the office of Environmental Health and Safety. Annual clearance of MVR check through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.
