The Senior Project Manager (Portfolio Delivery Manager) is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing complex projects. The Senior Project Manager will develop and execute comprehensive project plans that embrace best practices, including but not limited to scope and risk management, change management, quality management, effective communication plans, requirements management, and securing all necessary resources needed to achieve the project objectives. The role will also train and mentor junior level project managers. More specifically, the Senior Project Manager will oversee the delivery of programs & projects associated with a multi-year Enterprise-wide initiative focused on Quality of Care & Service. The projects associated with this initiative are new, complex, and highly matrixed and therefore, this role must engage positively & effectively with internal customers to drive people, process and technology change forward. The individual in this role will be successful by delivering all programs & projects according to measurable objectives & outcomes as well as on-time and within budget.
How you will make an impact:
Plans, documents and executes all phases of the program and project life-cycle, including scope management, cost management, resource management, requirements management, work breakdown schedule and timeline management, priority and dependency management, project integration planning, vendor management, and the assignment of roles and responsibilities.
Researches, plans, communicates and achieves objectives through extreme attention to detail, critical & analytical thinking, curiosity and empathy.
Acts as an advocate for the business by providing first class service through development of the program and project management discipline.
Lends subject matter expertise and knowledge management to Portfolio stakeholders and customers.
Ensures customer satisfaction through quality and timely delivery.
Conducts and facilitates effective Portfolio meetings, including issue tracking, status reports, and executive communications.
Defines and measures program and project milestones, effectively prioritizing deliverables and managing cross-project dependencies to meet delivery goals.
Evaluates implications of existing or proposed projects, programs, processes and recommends improvements.
Conducts regular program and project reviews with Portfolio leaders and customers to ensure alignment and accomplishment of key results.
Provides analytical support through research, data gathering, interpretation & development to assist in defining and prioritizing Portfolio outcomes and objectives.
Assists in development and delivery of high-level Portfolio presentations across all levels of the Enterprise.
Leads - alongside the Portfolio core team - in evangelizing, advocating and gaining buy-in for people, process and technology changes identified and planned.
Consults with cross-functional stakeholders, as necessary, to build Portfolio subject matter expertise and to identify potential program and portfolio delivery concerns.
Accountable for delivery of all agile and traditional projects in their assigned portfolio, working closely with the Product Director to drive communication, risk and dependency management, and portfolio governance.
Continuously build domain expertise in the assigned portfolio to support ongoing delivery of the portfolio roadmap.
Evaluates project plan, coordinates project activity, and identifies change initiatives required for successful project execution.
Determines, maintains, and adjusts project deliver schedule as needed during the project delivery lifecycle.
Shares status updates to leaders by implementing, gathering, and reporting on team and project based metrics.
Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
What we look for:
4+ years of related experience.
Proficient in project planning and life cycle development.
Knowledge of Agile Scrum Methodology and lean software development.
Experience in the payer / health insurance industry strongly preferred.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task, while maintaining strict attention to detail.
Ability to establish program goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
Ability to effectively identify & manage project risks and escalate when necessary.
Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem solving skills.
Ability to interact with all levels of personnel and communicate clearly in a professional manner (both orally and written).
Ability to demonstrate strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to evaluate business needs both strategically & tactically.
