Summary of Job Duties:

The function of the Graduate Assistant (GA) for Housing Residence Education - Student Leadership is to work with the Coordinator for Student Leadership to develop student leadership opportunities offered in the residence halls. This position has an emphasis on student leadership cultivation and advising and will work with other residence education staff to facilitate an environment that will contribute to the intellectual, social, physical, and cultural development of the students.

The GA for Housing Residence Education - Student Leadership articulates to the students the philosophy and policies of University Housing, the Division of Student Affairs, and the University, and in turn, represent and present the needs of the students to the administration.

This role is one of leadership, trust, and honor and contributes significantly to the personal growth and development of NRHH (National Residence Hall Honorary), RIC (Residences' Interhall Congress), and Lead HOGS member. The Graduate Assistant is required to live in the assigned facility.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education


  • Experience or involvement in residence hall organization; including the elevated role of leadership


  • Acceptance and enrollment into a University of Arkansas graduate degree program in higher education, Counseling in the Department of Educational Leadership, Counseling, Foundations, or other related field


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Computer, typewriter, telephone, adding machine, photocopier, fax machine, and videocassette recorder skills
