POSITION TITLE

Environmental Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is located at the Milliken BUC Utility Plant located in Blacksburg, SC, and reports to the Senior Project Manager. The position is responsible for the implementation, and execution of the environmental management system includingthe areas of wastewater treatment, air emissions, solid waste, hazardous waste, operator certification, asbestos management, spill response, auditing, Superfund Authorization and Re-authorization Act (SARA), stormwater, PCB management, environmental file maintenance, and associate training. The manager plays a key role in being knowledgeable of the regulations applicable to the location and for staying abreast of state-of-the-art treatment and abatement technologies. While responsibility for the proper operation of the Environmental Management System resides with all associates, the manager holds primary responsibility for the site environmental system.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Maintain and process daily wastewater treatment operations for both Allen and Magnolia plants

  • Responsible for managing the overall production of the BUC site. This includes direct management of the Utilities Engineer and indirect management of the boiler house, filter plant, and WWTP operators

  • Work closely with the Corporate Environmental Department to prepare permit renewal applications, compliance data, construction permits, Title V permit applications, waste permit renewal applications, and reports for submission to regulatory agencies

  • Develop and implement solid waste reduction as well as hazardous/non-hazardous waste/used oil procedures, handling and disposal for the location

  • Oversee the overall proper required training for operators are met to remain certified and to progress in certification levels

  • Ownership of all asbestos management and spill response procedures are trained and followed

  • Respond to audits by Corporate Environmental and/or outside auditors by developing and implementing corrective action procedures promptly

  • Ensure proper data on SARA releases, required reports, and files are properly submitted and maintained

  • Guarantee that the plant has completed all required measures and procedures are in place for stormwater containment, polychlorinated bi-phenols (PCB) management, and backflow prevention

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED


  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of environmental management experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven skills in leading, coaching, developing, and managing high performing teams

The successful candidate will have strengths in the following:


  • Manufacturing background in a textile or chemical plant is desired

  • Strong communications skills - verbal and written

  • Experience with implantation training programs on environmental issues and procedures

  • Proactive, self-starter with willingness to take ownership and responsibility

  • Leadership skills with the ability to influence others and promote change
