Job Description:

Summit Truck Bodies, a division of Transwest, is looking for a Maintenance Manager to help maintain the facilities and grounds in Wathena, KS. The Maintenance Manager is responsible to direct, train and monitor technicians in preventative and corrective maintenance and repair activities to ensure the company's machinery, systems, and equipment operate reliably and efficiently.We offer competitive wages and a full benefits package including medical, dental, life, disability insurance, 401(K), paid holidays, paid vacation/personal time, and an employee car discount program.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Oversees all maintenance and repairs of facilities.Collaborates with Production Manager to schedule preventive maintenance activitiesCollaborates with the Plant Manager to build teams that will keep production equipment in excellent condition, keep lines running at high efficiencies and maintain proper stock of all service and repair partsOversees facility upgrades, construction projects, installations, repairs and projects at the facilityOversees maintenance department and outside contractorsInterfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are metHires, trains, coaches and reviews performance of employees. Works with HR for employee discipline issues, terminations and recruitmentWorks in collaboration with the Safety SupervisorBuilds a positive work environmentDevelops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of productSuggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crewMaintain facilities and grounds. Snow removal using snowplow and shovel.Facility repairs as needed, including repairs to roof, faucets, sewer, plumbing, boiler lines, heating and ventilation systems. Troubleshoot and the preventive maintenance of all machinery.Operate a forklift, scissor lift, tractor, and company vehicle when needed.Painting, carpeting, electrical, masonry, welding, roofing and related work.Other duties as assigned by the manager.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:Frequent mobility and/or sitting, standing, bending or stooping for prolonged/extended periods. Requires lifting up to 100 pounds frequently. Requires stretching to reach items up to 100 pounds. Requires working in areas which are not ventilated or air-conditioned. Requires eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate machinery such as a truck, forklift and snowplow. Occasionally works at heights using ladder or mechanical lift.Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity.Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.Requires working in a fast-paced environment.Requires a normal range of hearing and vision.Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or Facility Management preferred or 7 plus years' experience. Provides strategic input and oversight to departmental projectsMakes data driven decisions and develops sustainable solutionsSkilled in reducing costs and managing timelines while prioritizing long run impact over short term winsMakes decisions by putting overall company success first before department/individual successKnowledge of Lean Six Sigma principals Continuously evaluates existing programs and processes, and develops new initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce wasteCreates, monitors, and responds to departmental performance metrics to drive continuous improvementCommunicates a clear vision, organizes resources effectively, and adjusts the strategy as needed when managing changeAbility to think creatively to generate ideas, and to identify alternative solutionsDemonstrates ability to think analytically and synthesize complex informationEffectively delegates technical tasks to subordinatesWorks effectively with departments, vendors, and customers to achieve organizational successValid Driver's License with an MVR in good standing.Ability to efficiently use various power and hand tools.Ability to work with multiple priorities and constant interruptions.Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.Excellent computer skillsAbility to be responsive and highly efficient with relaying information.Detail oriented.Ability to operate a snowplow, forklift, and tractor. Ability to successfully pass a General Abilities Assessment and Post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
