Overview

The Health Information Operations Supervisor is responsible for client/customer service and serves as a knowledge expert for the HIS staff. The role focuses on front line People management and training, as well asensuring processes are completed in compliance with established guidelines.This role may also assist leadership with planning, developing and implementing departmental or regional projects. This role provides support to Sr Manager of Health Information. The Health Information Operations Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining workflow and productivity of HIS's as well as Handling escalated situations and driving a positive work environment. The Health Information Operations Supervisor will also assist in the new hire process, meeting with clients, and developing staff at multiple sites.

    Full-Time: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:30 PM.
  • Location: This role will be performed at one medical facility, but will have the ability to work occasionally at home remotely. (CHICAGO,Illinois60612)

  • Tasks: Leading Staff, Monitoring Daily/Weekly/Monthly Metrics, Scheduling, Training Staff, Customer Service.

Responsibilities

The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Area manager may perform all or some of the primary accountabilities listed below. Specific tasks or responsibilities will be documented in the area managers performance objectives as outlined by the incumbents' immediate or manager.


  • Lead recruiting and hiring of HIS staff at site

  • Must have strong customer service skills

  • Maintain confidentiality and security with all privileged information.

  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision responding to changing priorities and role needs

  • Maintain working knowledge of Company and facility software

  • Adhere to the Company's and Customer facilities Code of Conduct and policies

  • Inform manager of work, site difficulties, and/or fluctuating volumes

  • Assist with additional work duties or responsibilities as evident or required.

  • Enhanced need for attention to detail for medical records

  • Consistent application of medical privacy regulations to guard against unauthorized disclosure

  • Responsible for managing patient health records

  • Responsible for safeguarding patient records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards

  • Lead training of associates in the HIS I position

  • Generates reports for manager or facility as directed

  • Participates in project teams and committees to advance operational Strategies and initiatives as needed

  • Manage HIS staff for furtherprofessional development

  • Inform senior leadership of issues, opportunities or challenges

  • Assist throughout the region with training and/or coverage as needed

  • Assist with Quality Assurance tasks as directed by management

  • Maintain overall workflow

  • Assist with escalated situations

  • May participate in meetings with HIMDs

  • Will lead in the Onboarding of new hires

  • Responsible for Corrective Action Plans and development of staff

  • Update Standard Operating Procedures at sites as needed

  • Handle various tasks as directed by their Sr Mgr of Health Information Operations

  • Will participate in recruiting/hiring activities of staff

  • Lead Quality Assurance efforts

  • Manage time tracking within time tracking and payroll approval system

  • Handle above tasks between multiple sites

  • Acts in a lead role with staff regarding general questions and new hire training and developmental training.

  • Leads training sessions for timely staff development

  • Available to staff for questions and training. Develop workflow.

  • Knowledge expert for HIS staff andacts on behalf of Health Information Operations Manager as needed

Qualifications

Qualifications


  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Experience in a healthcare environment or office setting is preferred.

  • Knowledge, experience and/or training in accurate data entry, office equipment and procedures required.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

  • Must maintain a current and valid driver's license and personal automobile insurance.

  • Able to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment

  • 1-year Health Information related experience

  • Meets and/or exceeds Company's Productivity Standards

  • Ability to present to small groups

  • Forward thinking and ability to problem solve

  • 2 + years in HIM related experience preferred

  • Demonstrated ability or experience in leading employees and processes

  • Coordinates with sitemanagement on complex issues

  • Excel in written and verbal communications

  • Able to delegate effectively

Working conditions & physical demands

Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. Must have the ability to stand and sit frequently throughout an eight-hour period, reach horizontally and vertically for overhead use. Must be able to use a telephone or headset equipment. Incumbent must be able to lift 20 lbs., perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day, and function in an environment with constant interruptions. Reasonable accommodations are available to qualified individuals with disabilities. Must be willing to travel up to 75% of the time to multiple sites based on the needs of the region. Possible overnight stays and last-minute coverage.
