The Commercial Real Estate Banking segment of the Commercial Bank provides customized and comprehensive solutions to create value and help meet the strategic priorities and evolving needs of our real estate clients and prospects - which include best-in-class national/regional developers, investors, REITS and funds. Commercial Real Estate is seeking a Relationship Manager who will learn the business trade and our relationships, connect client priorities to solutions across the Commercial Bank and delight our clients. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and can multi-task across job functions, various client needs and competing bank priorities. This person will report to a Commercial Real Estate Division Manager and Team Lead.

Responsibilities and Job Duties:


  • Responsible for a variety of client relationships and transactional activities for our Commercial Real Estate group.
  • In the context of enhancing existing relationships, the Relationship Manager will have the ability to engage in dialogue with CEO and CFO levels regarding the client's industry, capital needs and alternative capital structures and, will have a solid understanding of the bank's sponsor and credit, underwriting and client selectivity requirements.
  • The Relationship Manager will be capable of assessing the risks and impacts from both the clients' and the bank's perspective for development and implementation of an overall client strategy.
  • The Relationship Manger is responsible for leading, directing and coordinating key team members in analysis and execution and of the effective delivery of credit products and services to clients and prospects.
  • Proven track record of managing new deal flow within existing relationships and enhancing those existing relationship is required.
  • Proven skill and experience including planning, execution and follow up client meetings along with underwriting, seeking credit approval and documenting real estate transactions.
  • This role requires prior commercial real estate and/or commercial real estate finance experience or equivalent; credit finance experience of equivalent; credit underwriting experience a plus.
  • Reviews credit approval memorandums and attorney-prepared loan documents only for new and renewed loans to ensure compliance and adherence to the loan approval guidelines.
  • Interact with lending staff, deal teams and clients in a welcoming and professional manner.

  • Undergraduate degree is required. Majors in business, real estate, finance or economics preferred.
  • Must have 7 plus years of experience in commercial lending or equivalent.
  • Formal credit training required
  • Must demonstrate aptitude and ability to be conversant in all aspects of helping to develop customized solutions for meeting the strategic priorities and evolving financial needs of our clients.
  • Must exhibit exemplary communication skills and executive presence.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and experience closing real estate transactions.
  • Professional sales skills and experience, including planning, execution and follow up of client meetings.
  • Capable of organizing, facilitating, and leading a team of bank associates and analysts to underwrite and obtain credit approval.
