PENDING CONTRACT AWARD

Aircraft Mechanic III (23023):

Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance. Processes the technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported. Capable of performing, supervising and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is, IIs and IIIs. A person in this position maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation. This worker also applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems. A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required. Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records, and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.   

Additional Qualifications: To include the Basic A.24 description, Lead Inspector leads a team in the performance of aircraft engine maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance. Processes the technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the engines being supported. Capable of performing, supervising and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is, IIs and IIIs. A person in this position maintains repairs and modifies aircraft engine structures, and applies technical knowledge of jet aircraft propulsion systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation. This worker also applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of jet engine mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of engine modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of associated systems. A detailed knowledge of aircraft engine unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, etc. is required. Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to mechanics and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet production delivery schedule. This worker will be required to make entries in maintenance logs and records, and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft engine modifications and/or maintenance efforts. This worker performs quality inspections to include In-process-inspections (IPI’s) and final inspections and oversees others and insures proper technical data is being followed. The Aircraft Mechanic III also works closely with the onsite Supervisor with coordination from the COR to ensure all work assigned is performed in a satisfactory manner.

Task Requirements:


  • Performs aircraft maintenance functions of the Corrosion Control. 

  • Performs inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, surface finish removal, corrosion control, preservation/de-preservation services

  • Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means

  • Troubleshoot malfunctions.

  • Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment, and sets kits and outfits (SKO).

  • Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, military technical manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, blueprints, manufacturers’ drawings, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components

  • Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment

  • Perform shift work and/or overtime as required

  • Other duties and task as assigned.

Preferred Personnel Qualifications:


  • 15 years or more of Organizational, Intermediate and/or Depot level maintenance

Basic Personnel Qualifications:


  • Attended Aviation Powerplant School or equivalent.

  • 10 years experience in aviation powerplant maintenance

  • Must meet security requirements for installation, facility and network access

  • Must qualify for and shall possess a Common Access Card (CAC)

  • Must be able to climb ladders and raised platforms

  • Must be able to use hand and power tools

  • Must have dexterity to handle small parts

Employment is contingent on a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
