We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Director of Nursing for our skilled nursing and memory care units.
The Assistant Director of Nursing Services shall be responsible for the supervision, provision, and quality of nursing care in the facility in conjunction with the Director of Nursing Services. The Assistant Director of Nursing Services will support the Director of Nursing Services with:
the development and maintenance of written nursing service standards of practice.
definition of routine nursing care to be rendered by licensed nursing personnel, and determination of when more than routine care is needed; and
definition of routine care to be rendered by nurse’s aides, and determination of when more than routine care is needed;
coordination and integration of nursing services with other resident care services through periodic meetings;
development and annual review of nursing service policies & procedures
the development of a schedule of daily rounds and assignment of duties for all nurses and nurses’ aides. Oversight of care provided by nurses and CNAs all 3 shits.
reporting significant clinical developments to the patient’s physician/APRN and to the medical director; and
acting on behalf of the Director of Nursing Services in temporary absences.
The Assistant Director of Nursing Services shall oversee the day-to-day operation and services provided by the nursing staff for the quality care of residents, including quality assurance controls, under the guidance of the Director of Nursing Services.
Assists with reviewing nursing requirements, orders and treatments of each resident admitted and in planning residents’ care.
Coordinates and cooperates with the Director of Nursing Services, Medical Director in the overall provision of nursing care.
Organizes and directs nursing and related services, maintaining adequate levels of licensed and non-licensed personnel on all tours of duty under the direction of the Director of Nursing Services.
Assists in the follow-up of A&I reports/ helps look at patterns for falls, skin issues, weights, etc. with the goal of prevention.
Assists with audits
Assists the DON in Pharmacy Issues and Drug Recalls
Assists with duties of personnel management, recruits, interviews, hires, orients, trains, and evaluates staff in conjunction with the DON.
Assists with evaluations and performance reviews of nursing staff.
Participates in care plan meetings as necessary to address patient/resident care, survey and/or standards of care issues.
Assists DON in reviewing prospective admissions in relation to existing nursing capabilities and ensure readiness to treat.
Responsibly delegates work and follows through to see that assignments are accomplished and desired results are obtained.
Responsible for all QI activities in collaboration with DNS.
Active member and leader of QAPI committee.
Works closely with departmental leadership on departmental QI initiatives and reports.
Maintains required logs and data. Creates meaningful statistical reports relating to quality. Submits results and reports of audits on at least a quarterly basis in a clear and concise manner.
Reviews medical records to identify areas requiring follow up and/or improvement such as documentation, notification of changes in condition, compliance with standards of care, policies, and other areas.
Audits medical records concurrently and shares all results timely with DON and Medical Director.
Other duties as directed by the DON.
Education/Experience
Degree in nursing
3 years management experience as an ADON preferred
1 year experience in QAPI program preferred
Geriatric/rehabilitation experience
Pennsylvania RN license
Thorough knowledge of State and Federal regulated standards of practice
Excellent verbal and communication skills with the ability to demonstrate organizational and education skills.
Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook
