This is a summer intern position in the GLOBALFOUNDRIES FAB 10 CIM, computer integrated manufacturing team. In this role, the individual will be responsible for learning the use of AR / XR H/W and S/W to develop training programs and deliver training to fellow employees to capture AR / VR content in the semiconductor FAB. The candidate will be pursuing degrees in either computer science, computer engineering or game design / graphics design. The candidate will have experience in Java or other scripting languages. The candidate will collaborate with other CIM team members to develop programs to automate testing of FAB applications.
The candidate will need to have excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills. The candidate will collaborate with a diverse group of employees, including an experienced AR/VR intern, programmers, engineers, equipment maintenance technicians and manufacturing operators. The candidate will need to be adaptable as you will have various assignments and your daily work will vary depending if you are working in the FAB, your home office or in our AR/VR lab.
The candidate will need to be both a self-starter and a quick learner of new technologies. The candidate will master these AR / XR technologies to effectively train other GLOBALFOUNDRIES employees to use them. The candidate needs to be comfortable delivering education in a classroom, Google Meet, or one-on-one setting. Additionally the candidate needs to be comfortable wearing a cleanroom suit in our ultra-clean manufacturing FAB. The candidate working with another intern will develop a script and capture 360 degree VR content for a FAB 10 tour. The candidate will edit the tour so it can be delivered via an Oculus GO or Lenovo S3 device. These FAB tours will be used as a university recruiting tool.
Your Job: • Learn GLOBALFOUNDRIES AR and XR initiatives. • Learn use of PTC Vuforia Capture application to capture real world events for creating both AR and documented maintenance procedures. • Learn Vuforia Studio software to edit XR content. • Learn use of RealWare HMT1, Microsoft Hololens 2, and Lenovo S3 headsets to capture these procedures and develop XR content. • Learn to use a 360 degree VR camera to capture XR content for a FAB 10 tour to be delivered through Oculus Go and Lenovo S3 headsets. • Assure XR content is platform independent so it can be delivered through iOS or Android tablets as well as through XR headsets. • Develop a program to train GLOBALFOUNDRIES maintenance, manufacturing operator and other employees to use the headsets and Vuforia applications to capture XR content. • Learn Microsoft remote assist to train GF employees to use in our semiconductor manufacturing line. • Set up configure iPhones to use Microsoft remote assist and Wi-Fi calling. • Develop procedures to maintain XR headsets including firmware updates and managing content. • Develop applications using Java, Python and scripting languages to assist with various FAB projects.
