GHD's Water business is expanding into the realm of Integrated Water Management (IWM). Our Tampa, FL office is looking for an Engineer to find opportunities to engage multiple agencies along with state and local governments to collaborate on regional and/or watershed improvements that address various resource needs (i.e. flooding, water supply protection, resiliency, wetland restoration, etc.) through IWM planning practices to promote integrated solutions.
Specific responsibilities in this role will include:
Participate in various types of meetings related to the Basin Action Management Plans (BMAPs), Central Florida Water Initiative (CFWI) and other water resource meetings to gain insight into the types of projects needed to address sustainable water resources and water quality
Assist in efforts to monitor Capital Improvement Plans for planned water related projects through Local Municipalities
Support the coordination efforts to engage other GHD subject areas in identifying ongoing or proposed projects that can promote comprehensive engineering solutions related to water, wastewater and stormwater improvements
Assist in researching existing GHD Contracts that can serve as an opportunity to market Integrated Water Management strategies to our clients.
Assist with coordination efforts with all five (5) Water Management Districts to track permitting activities throughout the State involving both Environmental Resource Permits (ERPs) and Consumptive Use Permits (CUPs).
Support and market the Integrated Water initiative through meetings, conferences and other events both internally and with clients
For success in this position, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Engineering (Civil or Environmental preferred)
Up to 5 years of experience in water resources planning & design of watershed infrastructure and best management practices
Understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and associated geographical information systems (GIS) spatial analysis
Basic knowledge of gravity and mechanical pipe conveyance system designs
General understanding of coastal processes, estuaries and habitats
Awareness of the environmental permitting processes through FDEP, WMDs, USACE, Coast Guard, FWC, USFWS, etc.
Desire to support project teams and assist in the planning & design strategies for a variety of projects
Strong written and verbal communication abilities to work both within a team and independently
