Job Description Summary:

Being an intern at CFA Institute means contributing to our mission of advancing ethics, market integrity, and professional standards of practice in the investment management industry. You'll have the chance to put academic principles learned in the classroom into practice in a real-world environment through hands-on project work and professional development opportunities. The Intern will actively support programs and projects within the data team and under close mentorship, undertake a range of ongoing activities of varying levels and professional complexity. Ultimately, the Intern will serve as a member of a professional team, interacting with colleagues, peers, and other stakeholders in the planning and implementation of projects and the execution CFA Institute's mission and values.

This specific internship will provide an opportunity to be a key contributor on a team that is focused on helping CFA Institute improve data quality and analysis.

Job Description:

The Data Intern will have the opportunity to:


  • Perform data quality analysis and measure data quality for enterprise data sources

  • Work with data owners to better understand and document standards and expected quality conditions for their data area

  • Develop visualizations for data quality measurements

  • Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties, as assigned

All CFA Institute Interns will have the opportunity to:


  • Participate in Professional Development sessions aimed at equipping the intern with the skills, capabilities, and knowledge to be a value-added employee.

  • Contribute to group project work with other interns to hone collaboration and teamwork skills.

  • Create content and tell their internship story in support of CFA Institute's Internship Program outreach and marketing efforts.

The experiences required for this role are:


  • Three years of completed college/university coursework

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Entry-level data analysis skills

  • Entry-level Python/scripting

  • Entry-level T/SQL a plus

  • Data visualization skills (Tableau) a plus

  • Microsoft Suite (365, Azure, etc.)

  • Comfortable learning and adopting new technology and tools

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
