Interfaces with manufacturing and design engineering in coordinating the release of new products
Reviews new designs for manufacturability and makes recommendations to design engineering on manufacturability improvements (DFMA, Serviceability, Safety, Ergonomics, and Modularity)
Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards and makes recommendations for fixturing and process requirements of new product lines
Develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacturing of sub-assemblies and final assemblies
Arranging work order kits as per the operation sequence
Makes recommendations for outsourcing vs building in house of sub-assemblies
Works with outside suppliers on outsourcing activities.
Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.
Works closely with design engineering to close issues found during manufacturing of new products.
Designs and procures manufacturing fixtures.
Perform Virtual Builds: using 3D CAD models to determine product manufacturability including BOM validation, determine proper build sequence, labor hour estimation, DMFA, tooling and fixtures assessment
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with no experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Outstanding analytical, verbal, and written communication skills that will enable the candidate to positively influence multi-level, cross functional teams
Familiarity with lean manufacturing methodologies as they apply to Low volume/high mix products
Should have all or some of the following: Lean Manufacturing Design for Manufacture Assembly (DMFA); Computer Aided Design (CAD); Statistical Process Control (SPC); Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA); make vs. buys analysis; Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems; creating graphical build documentation; Concept & design of fixtures; root cause and corrective action investigation; and/or nonconforming material disposition
