Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.
The Public Affairs Compliance Officer is responsible for providing an overall view of compliance risks across Public Affairs. (Public Affairs coverage areas include: Corporate Philanthropy & Community Relations; Government Relations & Public Policy; Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility; Corporate Communications; Diverse Segments, Representation & Inclusion; and Marketing).
Specific activities include:
Monitoring of Public Affairs activities for compliance risk
Reporting of overall compliance issues, emerging risks, and regulatory changes
Support for annual program deliverables including learning analysis, program effectiveness assessment artifacts, etc.
Oversight of compliance program policy requirements for compliance team
Oversight of top of the house compliance requirements
Development of executive level reporting
Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management
Desired Qualifications
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior executive-level leaders
Other Desired Qualifications
A Juris Doctor (JD) degree preferred
Knowledge and understanding of compliance practices and methodologies, including risk assessment, monitoring and testing activities, regulatory change
Experience with corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and development of diversity strategies
Knowledge and prior experience with marketing in the financial services industry
Effectiveness in driving successful execution of plans; ability to plan, prioritize, and set goals
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong credible relationships with key stakeholder groups including management, regulators, front line businesses, and enterprise functions
Ability to work in a dynamic environment, and adjust to changing priorities
Experience managing compliance-driven initiatives and / or processes which require close partnership with business, risk, and / or audit functions
