The Plant Superintendent is responsible for operations, maintenance, and reliability of the Meeker Gas Plant located in Rifle, Colorado. The Superintendent is also directly responsible for the safety of personnel, protection of the environment, and prevention of damage to systems and equipment through the continual promotion of safe work practices and conditions.  Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 


  • Supervises/manages plant operators and maintenance personnel and supports them in achieving asset goals and objectives.

  • Prepares and recommends annual operating budget and is responsible for cost containment measures.

  • Reviews and analyzes various operating data to identify areas of lost opportunity as well as opportunities to increase reliability, optimize operations, and lower operating costs.

  • Works closely with the Commercial Team to maximize the profitability of the plant and system.

  • Ensures there is an organized program to minimize downtime.

  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, Process Safety Management and Process Hazard Analyses, etc., and other applicable regulations.

  • Ensure correct and complete documentation for environmental compliance and reporting.

  • Oversees the planning and scheduling of maintenance projects.

  • Interact extensively with both internal (commercial/business groups, engineering, safety, environmental, compliance, accounting, etc.) and external customers (pipeline companies, producers, joining owners, regulatory agencies, engineering companies, etc.).

  • Supervise, Schedule, and Train plant and maintenance operations staff.

  • Adhere to and focus on personnel safety and compliance with company safety policies and practices.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all workgroups.

  • Assure economic operation through proper planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost management.

  • Respond to facility emergencies; assist in coordinating the necessary activities to return the assets to full operational capacity.

  • Monitor contractor safety, competency, quality, and performance.

  • Communicate and coordinate operations and maintenance activities with gas scheduling group in order to maximize gas volume deliveries.

  • Ensure daily gas volume schedules are accomplished, and plant throughput is maximized.

  • Communicate with gas scheduling and commercial teams to verify daily recovery targets are accomplished.

 
 
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications: 


  • Proven leadership skills in a process plant environment are required.

  • Engineering degree or equivalent Natural Gas Systems (or similar operations experience is preferred.

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required. 

  • Experience managing and directing a workforce and managing a facility budget.

  • Five or more years of Cryo plant operations experience preferred.

  • Must have strong organizational skills and able to allocate concurrently with a variety of projects and issues.

  • Strong focus on safety and familiarity with requirements of Process Safety Management.

  • Adaptable to a changing work environment.

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office applications and other menu-driven programs used by the company.

  • Must be able to work in a diverse team environment.

  • Sef-starter able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.

  • Must live - or be willing to relocate to - within one hour reporting time to the Meeker Gas Plant.
