Regional IT Director - North America at Griffith Foods in ALSIP, Illinois

Job Description:

Location:  North America

Form exceptional working relationships with key NA business stakeholders to perform a highly visible, collaborative technology leadership role, ensuring that the Griffith Foods NA business enjoys the highest levels of technology support as the region pursues significant profitable business growth.

As a member of the Global IT team, contribute to the iterative development of the global IT strategy, ensuring that NA’s specific requirements are heard and addressed.

Deliver the NA elements of the long-range business strategy, ensuring that the business is supported through change and maximum return on investment is achieved. Focus moving forward will be on the: migration to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and Customer Engagement, support of manufacturing optimizations, and introduction and implementation of differentiating digital capabilities and solutions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Form excellent working relationships with the NA Leadership Team to develop a very strong understanding of the NA business, its objectives, drivers, growth plans, opportunities and threats.

  • Conduct a full review of the current NA technology infrastructure and systems architecture and form a view regarding its current performance and fit for purpose. Form and begin to communicate short, medium and long-term recommendations and observations to appropriate parties in NA and Global IT.

  • Define a regional IT plan (incorporating operations, support and capital investment) in support of anticipated business growth and diversification, ensuring that business benefits are realized from an innovative yet reliable, high performing technology infrastructure, regardless of geography;

  • Lead the process to identify and evaluate internal digital asset capabilities and strengths. Assess external digital opportunities and threats.

  • Champion the development of the regional digital business strategy and road map, in coordination with Global IT, and ensure its integration with the enterprise strategic planning process, and the resulting business strategy and plans.

  • Review, prioritize and manage the iterative delivery of a regional IT project portfolio, incorporating both tactical and strategic business and IT initiatives.

  • Direct and oversee regional IT operations to maximize systems availability and ensure that customer service excellence is achieved. Establish the priorities and focus for IT effort.

  • Build strong working relationships with internal team members and external partners to elicit consistently strong performance, developing reliable and responsive partnerships that add tangible value to IT activity.

  • Enable and embed a regional knowledge management culture through the provision of appropriate technology and business processes.

  • Embed a single team approach in NA, bringing together disparate IT teams to work towards common goals. Ensure that the team effectively partners with the business to enable and support.

  • Provide consistent, inspirational and developmental leadership, encouraging individuals to come up with creative ways to elevate the capabilities of technology systems to meet evolving business requirements.

  • Help to formalize IT and decision support processes through the definition of (and adherence to) standard documents and business cases.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems; Master’s preferred.
  • Skilled international IT Director/Head of IT with 10+ years’ experience of having performed a similar regional role in a high-growth global business with a distributed supply chain and customer base.

  • Prior experience of having worked in food manufacturing/processing, with a sophisticated understanding of complex supply chain management, business process engineering and operations research.

  • Excellent leadership, communication and organization skills with a results-oriented mindset.

  • Experience of having managed IT provision across multiple international territories/cultures.

  • Extensive and varied project and program definition and delivery experience to include a key role in at least one high value, multi-site ERP implementation.

  • Experience of having previously fulfilled a broad IT management remit, including operations, technical support and infrastructure, development and project delivery.

  • Extensive experience of managing internal and external resources to deliver complex, innovative business solutions and reliable service provision in a NA-located business.

  • Prior exposure to shared service structures will be advantageous,

  • Fluent in English; working knowledge of Spanish will be advantageous.

  • Must be able to travel 30%.
