At RingCentral we work with all teams across the company to incorporate privacy in everything we do, by providing legal advice, guidance, education, policies, and tools, to facilitate adoption of our products and to make RingCentral a trusted brand for privacy.

We are seeking a self-starter with a passion for privacy, who enjoys working collaboratively as well as driving projects independently.

This Privacy Counsel position will report to the Chief Privacy Officer based in California.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Support the global expansion of RingCentral by monitoring, interpreting, and applying relevant US and international laws and regulations, especially those related to cybersecurity, privacy, data governance and other relevant areas, as they may apply to the RingCentral's business.
  
• 
  Provide legal advice and direction to all stakeholders across the company on matters regarding privacy and data protection.
  
• 
  Develop customer facing collateral on privacy topics, to foster understanding and trust in RingCentral's privacy practices.
  
• 
  Work with commercial attorneys to facilitate negotiation of privacy and security terms with customers and with suppliers, by providing training, templates, playbooks, contract reviews, and support in contract negotiations.
  
• 
  Partner with product counsel to help identify and address privacy impact of product features and to implement privacy by design.
  
• 
  Create and provide training and written guidance to legal team members, clients and cross-functional stakeholders on current and emerging privacy issues.
  
• 
  Provide data incident response legal support.
  
• 
  Partner with the Information Security, Information Technology, and Product teams to implement privacy by design, to adopt best practices for management and protection of personal information, and to develop appropriate policies and standards.
  
• 
  Develop and deliver training and communications on privacy topics.
  
• 
  Manage outside counsel on privacy matters.
  
• 
  Handle special projects as requested.
  

Qualifications:

• 
  5-7+ years of relevant privacy experience in the technology or a regulated industry sector.
  
• 
  Qualified to practice in at least one U.S. state, preferably California, with law degree from a reputable law school.
  
• 
  Working knowledge of national and international privacy laws, including HIPAA as it applies to Business Associates.
  
• 
  Pragmatic approach and can-do attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, business judgment, strategic thinking, superior work ethic, flexibility, and ability to work independently.
  
• 
  Superior language, written and verbal communication skills.
  
• 
  Team-work and ability to work efficiently with cross-functional teams and manage numerous projects simultaneously under time pressure.
  
• 
  Experience in high technology or telecommunication companies preferred.
