Alliant Energy is actively seeking recruiting for a Line Mechanic, Journeyman or Apprentice level that is interested in joining our team in Spencer, IA. This is an exciting, challenging, and critical position that is responsible for constructing, dismantling, maintaining, replacing, repairing, and operating electric facilities.
This position has a residency requirement of35 minutes from headquarters.
This position may participate in a Boot Camp and on-the-job training may take place in multiple sites throughout IP&L geographic territory. Travel, overnight lodging and expenses will be handled in accordance with bargaining agreement.

Job Qualifications Note: This position is posted at a Journeyman or Apprentice level; many qualifications below pertain to journeyman level candidates.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Licenses/Certificates: * Obtain and maintain Class "A" CDL * CPR and First Aid * May be required to be certified to apply herbicides.
Physical Requirements/Demands: * Very heavy work * Climbing, balancing, twisting/standing, stooping/crawling * High degree of visual efficiency along with good color distinction and depth perception *Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication (hearing/listening ability) * Good finger dexterity
KSA (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities): * Must have mechanical skills * Ability to work in a team setting * Capable communicator * Ability to be courteous and tactful with the public * Will be required to work irregular hours during storm emergencies and as needed
Environmental: Often requires extensive work during weather extremes, both summer heat and winter cold, blizzard and thunderstorm.
