Summary of the Group
The Cell Therapeutics Technology group within the Antibody Discovery and Protein Engineering Department develops gene and cell therapy technologies and supports pre-clinical research of innovative therapeutic products. The main duties for the ideal candidate are to help build engineered stem cell-based regenerative approaches to support AstraZeneca's non-oncology cell therapy pipeline projects.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Supporting the development of genetically engineered stem cell platforms for next-gen regenerative cell therapies. Specifically, he/she will work on pluripotent stem cell culture, engineering, single cell expansion, characterization of pluripotency and their differentiation into cell therapy relevant cell types.
Conducting animal studies to investigate cell therapy within relevant disease models.
Working in a multidisciplinary matrix environment to further improve strategies towards clinical applications.
Multi-tasking and managing multiple projects simultaneously
Education & Skills Requirements
PhD degree in Cell Biology or relevant scientific discipline with 2+ years of laboratory research experience
Hands-on experience in pluripotent stem cell (ESC and/or iPSC) culture, engineering and differentiation
Proven record of productivity and technical skills as evidenced bypublicationsin high-impact peer reviewed journals
Experience with molecular biology, immunoassays, flow cytometry, quantitative PCR methods and animal studies
Proven ability to work independently and effectively plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion to meet schedules and deadlines
Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Strong collaboration and team-working skills
Desired Skills
Experience in stem cell differentiation into T cells
Gene-targeting, genome editing and viral vectors
