We are looking for a talented Machining Quality Engineering Group Leader to join our team specializing in Cummins Power Systems for our Power systems Business Segment in Seymour, IN.

 Your impact will happen in these and other ways: 


  • Provides guidance and organization to staff engaged in various current product reliability engineering assignments and projects. Applies sound knowledge of statistical tools and warranty databases to analyze existing component or system reliability, report the reliability per the customer's reporting requirements, and provide interpretation of the results.

  • Applies sound knowledge to assigned areas and products to provide reliability comparisons and assessments across the Cummins product range and identify and report adverse or favorable trends in current product reliability. Applies sound knowledge of statistical and life data analysis techniques to statistically quantify the reliability impact of design change.

  • Leads team in the development of related tools and methods in order to quantify and improve product reliability. Works with current product problem solving teams as well as finance and marketing functions. Leads a small technical group and works under minimal supervision.

  • Provides guidance, sets expectations, clarifies responsibilities, and provides feedback for project team members in accomplishing tasks and goals; and participate as a key contributor and assigns work to meet group commitments and influences at department or program management level.

  • Provide input on program-related decisions. Proposes innovative initiatives and projects.

    Contributes to the solution of complex technical problems; provides resources, removes barriers and ensures application of common approaches.

  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge of engineering discipline(s) and leverages expertise on other projects. Identifies developmental needs of group members. Assists with the transfer of knowledge; coaches and mentors less experienced engineers.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

Master or Bachelor of Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience related industry required.

 

Experience

Intermediate level of relevant work experience (5 plus years) and some experience in leading team would be required, such as responsibility for several components of a project or a complex component of a project.


  • Manage / Coach / Mentor 3 Quality Engineer reports. Including completing employee evaluations.

  • Manage / Coach / Mentor Hourly Quality personnel who support SEP Machining area.

  • Assist in daily support of SEP machining area to address internal quality concerns.

  • Identify supplier caused defects and comfortable in machining environment and familiar with various gage techniques.

  • Drive continuous improvement activities by being active in PQP process, SPC data review.
