Summary
MiTek is seeking an experienced Payroll Tax Analyst who will be responsible for monitoring, managing and reconciling payroll taxes at the employer and employee level for a multi-state company with multiple FEINs.
Job Responsibilities & Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Reconcile payroll tax reporting and funding notices after each pay run to ensure accurate filings by tax service provider
Assist with Quarterly and Year End activities for US & Canada including reconciling taxable wages to 940s, 941s, and W-2s
Responsible for Monthly Illinois tax filing
Responsible for Multiple Worksite Reporting
Responsible for accurate set up and system maintenance of SUI rates and Withholding account numbers
Registration of new state payroll accounts and closing payroll accounts
Validates and reconciles new hires, address changes, and transfers to ensure they are mapped to the appropriate taxing authority
Process Amendments and W-2Cs
Communicate directly with tax jurisdictions as well as internal/external customers regarding tax inquiries
Responsible for payroll tax research and resolution through third party and tax agencies as well as tax filings that may not be performed by third party
Work with federal, state, and local tax agencies on audit requests
Responsible for calculating, preparing, filing tax returns for one company
Responsible for Missouri Works and Work Opportunity Tax Credit Programs
Assist with Workers' Compensation Filings
Maintain current knowledge of payroll tax laws
Conducts testing of tax configuration changes and updates
Assist with Unemployment Claims
Identifies and recommends process improvements
Assist with biweekly payroll processing
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education: Associate's Degree required, Accounting emphasis preferred; CPP a plus
Experience: 3 to 5 years' experience in payroll tax laws and payroll tax filings for US and Canada; 2 to 3 years' experience in payroll processing; Workday and ADP tax experience preferred
Computer Skills:Strong knowledge of MS Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (Advanced User - fluent in Vlookups, pivot tables and sub-totaling) and Vista experience preferred
