Responsibilities

Research IT – Scientific Consultant (P4-R2)

The successful candidate will join a global team of computational biologists and software engineers develop and enhance workflow, data management, computational platform for rapid molecule design, test and validation in early discovery and development. 

This position responsible to extend existing platform for Biotherapeutics to new therapeutics modalities. This person will work support novel modalities team in Boston and Indianapolis; collaborates with global Research Information & Digital Solutions team, expand the current solution, toolkits.

The successful candidate will leverage their knowledge of biology, genomic, software engineering, apply problem solving, analytical techniques skills to:


  • Extend the central knowledge repository of biophysical property,  structure, functional activities from antibody to new modalities

  • Partners with IS Domain Architects to extend existing platform Biologica for new modalities.

  • Extend LIMS platform of sample track, workflow automation, registration to new modalities.

  • Develop structure activity relationship visualization that are tailored to new modalities.

  • Extend existing enterprise data architect to rapidly standup ad-hoc genomics databases tailored to specific requirements.  Enable timely and efficient data updates, queries, and data mining.

  • Extend the existing platform to enable rational design, hypothesis driven testing for new modalities.

  • Standardize data models; interface with core development team; responsible for database quality (both internal and external), develop proper QC process, integrate into enterprise central repository.

  • Collaborate with computational scientists to scale-up novel informatics pipeline for efficient data processing and visualization

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Management, or closely related field.

  • Minimum five years of experiences in one of the programming languages such as PHP, Perl, Python, R, Java, or C/C++

  • Minimum three years of experience in Unix/Linux OS

  • Minimum two years experience in modular design, DevOps and Agile development methodology.

  • Minimum two years experience in GitHub, React, Jenkins, Django, NoSQL databases etc.

Additional Skills


  • Masters or PhD in Computer Science, bioinformatics or other quantitative related field


  • Experience in building pipeline for data ingestion, index management, high dimensional data management, and data modeling.

  • Experience in Docker container management, AWS cloud deployment are desired.

  • Experienced in bioinformatics technologies, such as sequence alignment, sequence mapping, splice detection, Next Generation Sequencing is desired.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Able to work independently to analyze customer requirements and design solutions.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Agile learner and self-motivated team player.

  • Experience in Pharmaceutical company or life science industry is desired

Additional Information

  • Approximately 30% travel between Cambridge and Indianapolis Sites.
