What you will do

Under general supervision, conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning and general servicing of instrumentation and control systems in a high-pressure steam plant. Oversee production and maintaining of a uniform flow of steam by operating high-pressure boilers and maintaining all equipment in the boiler plant. Properly completes required documentation.

How you will do it 


  • Install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair electronic control systems and instrumentation.

  • Maintain system-level controller software including, basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (i.e. sensors, actuators, etc.).

  • Manage assigned work to meet professional execution of time and customer satisfaction.  Keep management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain a high-pressure gas/oil fired boiler plant along with all associated equipment during a given shift on a 24/7 based schedule to include weekend and holidays.

  • Oversee and maintain the boiler automation system to ensure the correct operation of the boilers and all related equipment in the steam plant. Perform duties associated with startup and shutdown of boilers and associated equipment following established procedures in a safe and efficient manner, while maximizing overall plant efficiency.

  • Complete administrative tasks including but not limited to time sheets, equipment inventory, certifications, maintenance documentation, shift logs, and incident reports. Accurately prepare steam plant data monthly reports for gas and oil usage along with total steam flow and water usage.

  • Subject to call back to maintain shift coverage and overall plant operation.

  • Adhere to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards. Maintains a clean work area.

  • Conduct extensive self-study (reading, research, and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency. Complete certifications as required by the company.

What we look for

Required


  • 2-year technical degree in a related field plus three years of industry experience, or five years’ experience in servicing electronic and/or systems in an industrial environment.

  • Knowledge of trade fundamentals sufficient to perform specialized service and repair work.

  • Ability to work from drawings, diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions.

  • Experience and knowledgeable with PLCs.

  • Mechanical aptitude, ability to solve complex problems, and apply troubleshooting skills.

  • Willingness and capability to learn boiler operation.

  • Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner. 

  • Must be able to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays as needed. Subject to callbacks seven day a week, 24 hours a day

  • Required to use a variety of hand and power tools or forklift.

  • Attention to detail. 

  • Good communication and listening skills. 

  • May be required to possess a valid driver’s license.

Preferred 


  • Two years’ experience installing electronic and/or mechanical systems.

  • Minimum of 1-year experience with high pressure boiler operation and completion of a two-year technical degree or equivalent, or a minimum of four years’ experience in the power plant environment.

  • Experience with Wonderware software.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC systems.
