Overview

SJS Executives is currently seeking an electrician to join our team! Our ideal candidate is ust be skilled in both old and new work, having a journeyman level knowledge of commercial, industrial and residential electrical construction and how a variety of electrical systems, circuits, controls and equipment are installed, operate and function.

Typical work includes a wide range of commercial, industrial and residential new construction, service and repair. Installs, repairs, troubleshoots, modifies, loads and tests new and existing electrical systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment, including secondary distribution lines.

Responsibilities


  • Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals to repair existing electrical systems, controls, and equipment.

  • Disassembles equipment, repairs and/or replaces parts and components, cleans and assembles. Makes operational tests and adjustments as necessary. Installs equipment and makes secondary connection with power lines. Cuts, bends, and installs metal conduit and Romex wire.

  • Troubleshoots by checking or tracing circuits, locates and diagnoses trouble, repairs or replaces parts and reinstalls; has the skill and ability to trouble shoot and repair difficult electrical problems such as intermittent, open or shorted circuits. Troubleshoots buss ducts of all kinds.

  • Repairs and installs line starters; single stage, multi stage and reversing controllers; limit switches; pressure switches; unloader valves; pressure and heating oil switches; and all types of controlling relays.

  • Maintains and repairs electronic and electrical 60 and 400 cycle generators and their associated control and regulating equipment and machinery.

  • Tests and repairs electric equipment and appliances. Performs basic test and repair of intrusion alarms and public address systems.

  • Makes adjustments and solves problems by use of electrical formulas for computing voltage drop, volts, ohms, amperage and circuit resistance, capacitance and frequencies.

  • Fabricates various electrical parts, using various materials of appropriate conducting, resisting or insulating properties. Builds test equipment when such is not available from any other source.

  • Must possess a sound working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.

  • Uses a variety of tools and test equipment including wire cutters and strippers, conduit bending and threading equipment, drills, soldering irons, ohmmeters, graphic recorders, ammeters, voltmeters, Wheatstone bridges, rheostats, phase rotation indicators, meggers, industrial analyzers, field test units, frequency meters, and various other electrical and measuring devices.

  • Assigned to perform tasks in non-trade related fields as an assistant/helper as workload requires.

  • May be required to serve as an on-call duty personnel on a rotating-shift basis. On-call duty personnel are required to carry a duty cell phone and duty pager and must remain available to respond on site to after-hour emergencies within two hous

  • Receive work assignments in the form of written or oral work orders and instructions.

  • Responsible for selecting the proper materials, tools and techniques to complete the work in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with applicable standards.

  • Responsible for informing the government leader if planned work deviates from normal trade practice.

  • Moderate lifting up to 40 pound is required. If a heavier life is required, it must not be attempted without assistance. Must be able to work at a rapid pace for a short period of time.

  • Occasionally required to perform work by stooping, bending, and reaching while in cramped and uncomfortable positions and by walking, kneeling, crouching, and crawlin

  • Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolds to perform work at various heights. Normal vision is required.

  • Some work is performed outside, which may require exposure to prevailing weather conditions. Working conditions in this job vary, with a portion performed in relatively pleasing surroundings and a portion performed on rooftops, in equipment rooms, under building and in confined spaces. Employee will occasionally be required to performing work in areas with high noise level where ear protection is required, in very hot and cold environments, in poorly ventilated and lighted areas; in some instances work in these conditions is for the during of the shift. The Employee may be exposed to fumes, dust, dirt, grease and oil, and is subject to the possibility of scrapes, cuts, bruises, contusions, burns, electric shock and eye hazards.


Qualifications


  • 4+ years of experience

  • CPR certification required

  • Valid Current Driver's License required

  • Must have clean driving record

  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screen
