Responsibilities

The purpose of the role is to control all the mechanical aspects of material handling systems for Dematic.

Job Family Specific Responsibilities:


  • Functions with limited supervision and highly demonstrated skills in the concepting and estimating of mainly large MHE Systems, supervise designers and specifying application solutions.

  • Plan and lead all efforts of major quotations.

  • Provides team leadership, manage different solution sets, establish priorities, and promote effective interaction between departments.

  • Has a thorough understanding of project specifications and checks all work being performed under his/her direction for adherence these specifications.

  • Provides material list of equipment, description of operation, design of all special devices and engineering pricing.

  • Establish/prepare quote schedules and delivery per specifications and contract.

  • Solicit, quote and review costs of equipment and services.

  • Directs activities of quote team on assigned projects.

  • Works with Purchasing to manage the interface relationships with vendors and assists in evaluating the performance of vendors and subcontractors.

  • Understands customer objectives and recommends system and equipment improvements in accordance with provided specifications.

  • As a member of the project team, he/she participates in the proposal preparation, estimating and sales presentations to the customer.

  • Develops recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction.

  • Keep customer and management apprised of quote status.

  • Keeps abreast of the latest company and industry-wide concepts, product design and developments.

  • Occasional travel is required in this position.  Usually, trips are planned and are of short duration.  However, requests for travel on short notice may be made and extended travel is sometimes required in support of systems commissioning and acceptance.

  • May be exposed to next level of duties and responsibilities.

  • This position includes possible assignments to the AE Mechanical Department or Mechanical Development.

Qualifications

Education:


  • Typically, BS/BA in related discipline or advanced degree.  Certification may be required in some areas.

 

Knowledge:


  • Comprehensive and broad knowledge of field of specialization.

  • Advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization.

  • Significant knowledge of organization's business practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those issues.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Proficient with AutoCAD.

 

Experience:


  • Typically, over 5 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of key   responsibilities and knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree may be substituted for experience, where applicable.

 

Direction of Others:


  • Provide specialized guidance and training for internal and external customers.

 

Key Working Relationships:


  • Primarily intra-organizational contacts and external contacts.
