Job Description:

The Commodities Transportation Specialist has growth opportunity in a fast paced, exciting and dynamic environment. The successful individual will direct, coordinate and manage customer freight bookings at LTI, Inc. Also, they will provide customer rate quotes to our clients and will oversee as well as manage the capacity of our available resources in real time. Additional tasks include providing shipment route planning, customer service and ongoing improvements to the dispatch process for Sunnyside Service Center bulk liquid freight division.

The Commodities Transportation Specialist will be performing the following duties in support of LTI, Inc’s values:



Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Effectively build long lasting and mutually beneficial relationships with customers.

  • Responsible for further developing and managing service offerings and opportunities presented by existing customers.

  • Generate interest, offer support and discuss options for providing additional services to all customers.

  • Coordinates and confers with Sunnyside Service Center Operations management Team, Central Regional Manager, Business Development Manager, and dispatch group to maintain a full and manageable flow of work while meeting customer service requests.

  • Offer prompt responses to all customer requests by phone, e-mail, and fax regarding rates, routing, billing questions and equipment capacity planning.

  • Maintain required shipment information and generate reports weekly through use of company automation tools and spreadsheets.

  • Responsible for checking internet load boards periodically to determine market rates, maximize loaded miles, and improve revenue in our line-haul lanes.

  • Enter orders into dispatch software program, assign load capacities, manage driver schedules and effectively communicate any special instructions for pickup and delivery to drivers.

  • Prepare and administer both the driver and equipment schedules to maintain compliance with load requirements as well as adhere to all DOT regulations.

  • Produce Bills of Lading (BOL) for receiving, BOL for complete information, assign codes and communicate instructions as required. Enter alpha and numeric receiving data from source documents into dispatch software.

  • Accurately manage the equipment and resources available to ensure we remain efficient and profitable within the bulk liquid operation.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Advanced computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Suite, use of data analysis tools, excel pivot table tools, Google Sheets, etc. Requires the ability to generate and report on business analytical data and key performance indicators.

  • Possess a thorough understanding of the domestic transportation industry.

  • Experience with completing and updating customer web-based forms associated with customers load tenders via their freight management software. (EDI, TMS, etc.)

  • Comprehensive knowledge of DOT, OSHA, States and local entities regulations to adhere to the safety policies of LTI, Inc. and comply with the standards set forth by our customers. Able to monitor employee compliance with all company policies regarding traffic laws and hours of service regulations.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, nights or holidays, if required. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Associate's degree (A.A.) or one-year related experience and/or training. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in the transportation industry.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is moderate and typical for an office environment.
