Job Description:


This position will report to VP, Model Development and is accountable for developing, enhancing, implementation, and maintaining quantitative risk and financial forecast modeling used in the stress testing process. This involves helping develop leading model methodologies and applying those methodologies to build robust forward looking models that link macro-economic variables and other business drivers to project business activity. The individual will also provide input to the framework for model development, including financial forecasting principles and standards, ensuring understanding, acceptance and mitigation of risks from the use of models, and the corresponding roles and responsibilities inherited from such use.


  • Start-to-finish development of forecasting models for the purposes of capital stress testing. This includes but not limited to writing of code, the training / fitting of the model parameters, and working with model validation team
  • Assist in data collection, extraction, scrubbing, validity and sanity checks, transformation, and validation
  • Responsible for full documentation of the model development process, testing performed, any and all modeling assumptions, limitations, and relevant control and governance processes surrounding the model
  • Ensure that the model development process is followed end-to-end and completion of development and documentation
  • Present quantitative results clearly and concisely and display a capability to discuss statistical and quantitative concepts coherently
  • Develop and document model monitoring plan, monitor statistical model performance
  • Respond to model scrutiny and inquiries from both internal and external validators as well as regulators to ensure conceptual soundness, model accuracy, and robustness of the models

  • 7 years of relevant job experience in model design, development, documentation, and compliance aspects of quantitative models
  • Strong statistical programming experience, with at least one of those tools: SAS, SQL, Python, and other programming language
  • Knowledge of VBA in the Excel/Access object model
  • Experience interrogating complex databases using SAS, SQL, or similar tools
  • Comprehensive business and technical knowledge of credit risk management methodologies and techniques
  • Experience with CCAR, DFAST and CECL is preferred
  • Experience using mathematical modeling to solve business problems in forecasting customer's saving, lending, investing and borrowing behaviors, for consumer and commercial financial products such as mortgages, credit cards, and auto loans
  • Experience with credit risk evaluation, including qualitative and quantitative approaches, linear/logistic regressions, predictive modeling, time series analysis, back-testing, in-sample and out-of-sample forecasting
  • Experience with regulatory model compliance including stress testing and model validation
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Power Point, Excel, and Project is required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Masters of Science Degree in Mathematics or Economics with background in statistics is a prerequisite (e.g., applied mathematics, statistics, econometrics, operations research, or physics)
